Blood of the Phoenix

We may have shown you some new models, but we haven’t shown you the amazing boxed set they come in! Blood of the Phoenix is the biggest battlebox that we’ve ever released. Not only does it feature 12 new plastic miniatures, including the stunning Incubi and Howling Banshee kits – not to mention two unique Characters, Jain Zar and Drazhar – but some Scourges, Hellions and no less than three vehicles too!

In addition to the miniatures, Blood of the Phoenix includes a 40-page campaign book telling the tale of the ancient grudge between those who fled the Fall aboard the space-faring Craftworlds and those who arrogantly continued the dark practices that first damned their race.

The action then follows Drazhar’s quest to cement his place in legend by slaying a Phoenix Lord in combat, and you can refight each stage of his bloodthirsty journey with three Echoes of War missions that are inspired by the narrative. Finally, the book features all of the datasheets for the models in the battlebox – including the awesome new rules for Jain Zar and Drazhar, both of whom are now utterly terrifying!

Psychic Awakening: Phoenix Rising

The first in an upcoming series of Psychic Awakening books, Phoenix Rising recounts the seismic events that may well change the future of the Aeldari race forever. Desperate alliances will be forged against ancient enemies. Hope and despair will become entwined. The mightiest champions of the Asuryani, Drukhari and Ynnari will fight as one to prevent their ultimate doom. Of course, this is just the first part of a galaxy-spanning series of events that is set to change the fate of Warhammer 40,000 forever, so even if you’re not an Aeldari fan, chances are you’ll want to get your hands on this book anyway!

You can read all about it and get all of the info you need to refight the key battles in an 80-page hardback book, deluxe Collector’s Edition, or in Enhanced and ePub digital formats. If you’re looking to treat yourself, the Collector’s Edition includes an additional 16 pages of background material, featuring Psychic Awakening fiction in the form of four short stories that won’t be available in print anywhere else!

PreorderPreview-Oct06-PRCollectors-ahc73
PreorderPreview-Oct06-PRStd-3x73w.jpg PreorderPreview-Oct06-PRDigitals-egew3.j

In addition to a trio of exciting Echoes of War missions, Phoenix Rising includes rules for two Theatres of War – High Altitude and Maiden World – that you can apply to any of your battles. There are also the updated datasheets for all of the new miniatures from Blood of the Phoenix, as well as a number of other key Characters and units from the narrative.

PreorderPreview-Oct06-DIYCraftworld-4j32

And that’s just the start! There are loads of new rules and abilities for the Asuryani and Drukhari – an entire codex expansion’s worth of content! These include Exarch Power options for each Aspect temple, a third psychic discipline in the Runes of Fortune and new customisable Craftworld Attributes that work like the Successor Tactics in Codex: Space Marines! You’ll also find rules for Drukhari Obsessions (specifically for the Kabals, Wych Cults and Haemonculus Covens), and the full set of Ynnari rules first featured in May’s issue of White Dwarf.

There will be rules in there for creating your own Craftworlds, as well as Kabals, Cults, Covens, etc (inspired by Successor Tactics in the new Codex: CSM). Pick 2 rules and stick them together, huge number of possibilities. Full rules for the Ynnari. Powers for all Aspect Warrior Exarchs.

I cannot wait to have a "create your own warband" system for CSM.

A creature ("Hunter/Huntress")  is pursuing Yvraine, something sent by Slaanesh, something that will "build to an exciting crescendo during this story".

They way they worded it the “roll your own” is just for Craftworlds, which means the Drkhari Obsessions are getting redone but are still fixed. Given that they essentially have three different sets that makes sense for them.

A Drukhari vs Asuryani battle box has been pretty solidly rumored for a while now.

That's a big censored.gif  box. Is the book that comes in that box the same as the book that you can buy separately?

Don't think you are right there at all. Select quotations, but the meaning seems very clear to me. Listen again.

Rules for creating your own craftworlds, as well as your own Drukhari kabals, cults, and covens...The build your own Craftworld attributes or Drukhari obsessions....fighting style that you want for your kabal, wych cult, craftworld, whatever it may be. From that list you pick two rules, two attributes, two obsessions, stick them together...

It seems that times changed, because I really like those filthy xenos teehee.gif Never thought that I will be hyped by an Eldar release, but those Howling Banshees look superb, and I like the Drukharii too. Maybe the time is coming, when I leave the chainsword and take up the wraithblade?

not super thrilled about the vehicle choices - drazhar and his posse cant even fit into a venom. a raider would have been a better choice. and those two eldar tanks are just goddawful - how old are they? would have been happier with some jetbikes

all in all tho, an excellent box - great use as a start collecting ynnari box

It helps if you quote, ya know, the actual article:

These include Exarch Power options for each Aspect temple, a third psychic discipline in the Runes of Fortune and new customisable Craftworld Attributes that work like the Successor Tactics in Codex: Space Marines! You’ll also find rules for Drukhari Obsessions (specifically for the Kabals, Wych Cults and Haemonculus Covens), and the full set of Ynnari rules first featured in May’s issue of White Dwarf.

Note the bolded. They specifically call out the Craftworld Attributes as customizable, whereas it's just rules for the Obsessions in another sentence. If both were "roll your own" then it would have said "...new customizable Craftworld Attributes and Drukhari Obsessions that work like..."

The Designers' Commentary video is on the WHC page with the pre-order announcement - it's a nice little almost three minute video and from the sounds of things, puts the Aeldari as a whole on pretty good rules variation footing.

Just hope we keep getting new plastic Aspect kits and we don't have to wait another 8-10 years between the Banshees and whatever comes next.

Based on the contents, I'm thinking it's going to be the same price-point as Wrath & Rapture, so £95 / £100.

Might actually be tempted to buy a couple, as the individual releases for Flesh Hounds and Fiends took a while and I don't want to be waiting on Banshees.

It's a slightly different set of contents than I was expecting, but no complaints with extra Scourges and a Venom for my existing Drukhari army.

Definitely an auto-buy, might even get another if they're still available by the time payday rolls around.

The reddit post said $175. Also this box has two card sets and looks like also the LE Codex is included so I'd say it's more than just the Wrath&Rapture box.
