Plastic Zone Mortalis

They shall be my finest warriors, these men who give of themselves to me. Like clay I shall mould them, and in the furnace of war forge them. They will be of iron will and steely muscle. In great armour shall I clad them and with the mightiest guns will they be armed. They will be untouched by plague or disease, no sickness will blight them. They will have tactics, strategies and machines so that no foe can best them in battle. They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are my Space Marines and they shall know no fear.

This is definitely raising hopes just to dash them but imagine if this came as part of a bit of profile raising for the horus heresy, with a focus on small games and Zone Mortalis. You know, the plastic breachers people fantasised about. We can dream.
Anyway new tiles themselves would be great, particularly if there was more Necromunda stuff, but pulling Zone Mortalis rules into 40k would be fun too. Or Kill Team? You kind of have this with Arena but that's so focused on the competitive aspect.

would be nice to see Zone Mortalis for 40k too - ( in Addition with Special rules for this. If not there is no Chance against Necrons Canoptech Units out there)

I also love boards with part ZM and part regular terrain so people can still bring units that can't enter ZM tiles for "outside" while also requirering units that are going to go "inside" with little to no support from the outside units.
Love it!

Sgt Mecheal: Brother captain, do you hear that?

Sgt Mecheal: some kind of music....
Captain: That is boss music...

My guess is since Psychic Awakening is adding rules for different warzones (Maiden Worlds, etc) we'll probably see it in one of those. Maybe void-combat themed, like Blood in the Void for 30k.

I have waited for plastic scenery like this since I was a child... Bring it on GW!!!! If this is good you will be forgiven for 8th ed and the Primaris.

Unbearable, isn't it? The suffering of strangers, the agony of friends. There is a secret song at the centre of the world, and its sound is like razors through flesh.

The price point was always one of the big things keeping me from the FW Zone Mortalis stuff, and I'm not confident enough in my terrain scratchbuilding to make my own board. Which is a shame, it was a fun variant way to play and would be an easy way to run small introductory games. I'll be looking forward to seeing if this pans out.

always loved the resin ZM stuff, but never bought any due to the price, hopefully if these rumors are true then that same level of quality will be retained.
and if it's going to be part of a new Necromunda box, that might get me into it, as the current stater box doesn't appeal to me due to being packaged with the old outdated rulebook rather then the new updated one.

I really hope this rumour turns out to be accurate. I love the ZM tiles. I had the pleasure of playing on a friends table with these and it is so thematic and atmospheric. Plastic tiles will be an instant purchase and as an earlier poster stated, a licence to print money. Fingers crossed.

I am honor-bound to purchase the out of these due to the 40K 5E ZM rules being printed in the Badab War books.
What is everyone's thoughts about using them for 40K as actual ZM and not just fancy terrain, now that ZM seems to be 30K and Necromunda only?

I do find it hilarious that some people were saying the size of newer marine stuff looks great next to regular humans like Cadians, and then GW upsized the humans so they are the same height as marines again

To be honest, if plastic ZM is actually coming then there will almost certainly be an official 8th Edition rules set that goes with it, probably via Chapter Approved.
GW aren't going to go to the trouble and expense of designing a new scenery range and then not support it in their biggest game.

ZM tiles could also work as a filler to "hide" that the factions in book 2 dont get many new toys or even a box set for the case they dont bring one

Here’s a question though, what’s the price point that you guys would grab these? So we had the ~$600 4x4 set, and the realm of battle boards go for $330. These would be more complex than the sector imperialis for sure.

I don't imagine these will be the same as the original FW or Realm of battle boards but rather multi-part scenery kits that will be fully compatible with the other GW 40K scenery ranges.
So a kit with floor tiles, wall sections and consoles etc that you can build in any configuration adding a mix of existing tiles if you want to.

Might be a thing for kill team.
Should be a thing for Kill Team, at the very least.
ZM for 40K itself? Absolutely yes.
ZM for Apocalypse? Let's see how good Games Workshop really is.

Put the toys on the table and throw the dice. Everything else is just noise.
...Unless you're just in this for the modeling. In which case, show your work. Yours likely looks better than mine, anyway.
