Zephaniah Adriyen
In a character-heavy, somewhat fluffy Word Bearers list somewhat lacking in board control, do y'all think a 10-warp-gribbly squad of Daemonettes summoned in on a late turn into cover near an objective would be a good thing? Do they still get their Objective Secured if they're summoned? Would any of the other Daemon troops units be a better choice? (Daemonettes are fluffier for this purpose, because it's run by a Slaaneshi Daemon Prince.)

(Daemonettes are fluffier for this purpose, because it's run by a Slaaneshi Daemon Prince.) It's situational. Daemonettes are good versus light infantry and benefit from fighting first. If you think you are going to be charged by enemy infantry, then yeah. If they are going to need to stand up against a lot of firepower or fight against Dreads, there are better options. As far as Objective Secured goes, yes, they get it. The question is whether or not your army is battle forged. If it is, all Daemon units are supposed to get Daemonic Legions. AFAIK nothing about summoning changes battle forged status for the army, that's determined at the start of the game. 40kChrista 1 Back to top
Kain Mor
Actually, they would not get Demonic Legions. It says “all troops units in chaos daemons *detachments* gain this ability” Since reserve points don’t count as filling a detachment, the Daemonettes would miss out on this ability. Closet Skeleton
Paying points on troops who aren't in a battalion is a bad idea and only plague bearers can stand up to shooting so no, daemonettes are pretty useless to summon in just to hold an objective. Summoning is tied to marks so a slaanesh model can only summon slaanesh daemons while a markless/undivided character can summon anything. If you just want board control there are nurglings. MasterDeath
As above, summoned units do not get Obsec. If you need to hold an obj last turn, sure a summon can do that, any summon actually. But Daemonettes are probably the worst for the job, tied with Bloodletters. Plaguebearer, Nurglings or Horrors are way better. I actually use Daemons to fill my core slots for some CP. MegaVolt87
Plaugebearers and pox walkers sound better as a tough blob for an objective camp out.
