I built this list as a joke at my local game store when someone complained about how many bodies I could bring in my typical 2000 point list. Funny thing is that this might be able to beat Iron Hands because it will take too long to kill.

Why lord commissars? Why no primaris psykers? A few more Smites! might just be the difference between you killing a hard target and failing to do so.

"Frak this, for my faith is a shield proof against your blandishments."

-Book of Cain - Chapter IV, Verse XXI

"I think you really need to be a guard player in order to have that kind of attitude about casualties. My forces were killed to a man for slight strategic gain? All I heard was a buzzing noise until that part about strategic gain."

-Ailarian, Hand of the Kind XXXI

You went a very different route than I did with mine. I went with 2 maneuver battalions with 3 or 4 infantry squads with grenade launchers and a brigade of 6 squads with plasma and lascannons, lascannon sentinels, autocannon heavy weapon squads, and 3 vet squads. Each detachment also has a squad of storm troopers, cant remember if I had a melta command squad in there. HQs were a mix of company commanders, tempestus commanders, 2 primaris and a lord commissar.

Here are the biggest issues I see with your force.

- Your vets are an instant target with that much firepower. I went with 3 grenade launchers and a missile launcher in each. Still takes advantage of their BS but not quite as obviously high a priority as three guys toting around plasma and forces the opponent to question whether they are worth shooting over the heavy weapons or  lascannon infantry squads..

-No platoon leaders?

-You have no way of getting anywhere quickly or being able to hit a trouble spot. That was the purpose of my storm trooper squads and their officers. They jump in where needed to go for points, shoot up valuable targets or simply open a second front the opponent has to deal with taking pressure off your main line.

Yes, I am here all the time because this is the last 40k forum I can access from work. You would think they wanted me to do work or something.... EDIT: Now work has banned it too ...

As I said this was a joke list that isn't likely to win the fight. I just threw all of my infantry models into a list. As for the lord commissars, they are actually quite potent melee fighters and I have the models. As for fast movement, there's 3 company commanders and Creed. That's anywhere from 9 to 14 orders per turn. There's also a high likelihood that few squads will die per turn.

Have you run it?

I am creating a custom regiment, the Fallax Hammers based on Necromunda models. Please take a moment to view Work in Progress here

So, I in fact did. The list won, but I don't think that it can win an ITC event especially if you're using clocks. We had to call it after the 3rd turn because the store was closing. It wasn't fun and I wouldn't do that again.

One thing I know other infantry heavy/all infantry guard players do is movement trays for half the squad then move the other half to fill in. Should cut movement time by quite a bit. I have two maneuver battalions with 3/4 squads each who actually move normally. My brigade is set in place and doesn't move unless I have to. Set up and deployment does unfortunately take forever no matter what.

Thanks. I might use that advice if I run 2000 points of infantry again.
