Well, I think it's pretty clear that this week's Rumour Engine belongs in 40k, but to what does it belong?

 

 

Looks pretty Imperial, so that's a start. Something new for the Guard, maybe?

It looks like some sort of bomb storage/dropping mechanism, potentially for Aeronautica Imperialis.

So I would guess either bombs, which would suggest a flyer or some kind of mortar ammo. I don't know enough about Orks to say if it's maybe too regular for them, but Imperial would suggest itself.

The way it seems to be attached at the top and bottom of the pictures looks like it might be a slide-in ammo-rack.

Yeah I'd say from the mechanism around it that it could be an open breach from a new IG mortar weapon

 

From the detailing and painting it doesn't appear to be Aeronautica scale, so alternatively the IG could be getting a new plastic flyer?

Perhaps, but these look more like bombs or mortar shells than they do for a cannon - though I must admit, my mind went to exactly the same place as yours when I first saw it

I looks similar to speed loaders commonly used for revolvers. Although unless GW is trolling us with a highly zoomed image of the bit, it seems too large for a handgun.

Tanks usually have internal autoloaders and not external loaders, rotary missile launchers for aircraft are just impractical, so that leaves with field artillery pieces like Thunderfire Cannons, Thudd Guns and heavy mortars.

 

Either way, Imperium. Likely either AdMech or Plastic DKoK Imperial Guard.

Yes, indeed, compare it to the "crane" style servo arm on the Iron Hands character. It could well be a Primaris Techmarine with a new Cannon. Six shots though...

If it is, GW can put me down for 2! If it is out before Christmas, put me down for 4! I just moved down to Atlanta, close to 2 admired frater from here on B&C, who I cannot wait to see again, and those would make GLORIOUS Sanguinala gifts.

Just for reference this is the level of detail on the currently available Imperial bombs for AI.
Some modern bombers do use a carousel mechanism in the bomb bay, but this would have to be a massive new bomber aircraft to have that as visible detail.

 

I wondered if it could be the magazine for the cannon on a Warbringer Nemisis Titan as surely that must be the next titan for AT if they are going to make any more. It is quite different however.

My left of field answer is that if the Zone Mortalis rumours are true it's some kind of underground shell carousel/magazine for an above ground artillery piece, and makes an objective to capture or destroy in Zone Mortalis games

That there is a speed-loader for a giant bomb firing revolver. Possibly carried by a big stompy robot.

I was thinking along the same lines. Not right for Aeronautical Imperialis, similar mechanism to the Nemesis, but looks quite different. Doesn't match anything currently from Epic or 40k. So it's probably something entirely new, probably for Guard. The closest thing I can think of is a new Griffon mortar with an autoloader. But why bother with this kit when you already have the Wyvern? The only other option I can think of is a towed artillery piece like the Thudd Gun or Heavy Mortar. Doesn't really make sense for the Thudd Gun (four mortars with four magazines like this each? Bit weird), but might make more sense for rapid reloading of a Heavy Mortar. In any case, I'm sure it's 40k, and sure it's Guard, which makes it pretty interesting IMHO.

Yeah, it looks much more like a 'quick loader' for a revolver than a bomb rack of some sort. I want to say AdMech or Guard bomber, but that seems too obvious...
