Wings of Vengeance comes with two 88 pts armies

Having had some time to read the rules, I wondered what each of the armies in the starter would sum up to.

So, we've got

Orks

  • Dakkajet
  • Dakkajet
  • Dakkajet
  • Fighta Bommer
  • Fighta Bommer

... for a total of 88pts and we've got

Imperials

  • Thunderbolt
  • Thunderbolt
  • Marauder (Bomber)
  • Marauder (Bomber)

... for a total of 88pts.

It's quite interesting to see that both lists have the same pointcost, yet are so different.

Orks are fast and got loads of close range firepower, while imperials tend to max their firepower at medium range and have more structure.

Also nice that adding 12pts of upgrades and/or extra weapons already gets you to 100pts.

It's a solid start but still leaves some room for customisation.

i noticed that too...i have only glanced briefly at the points costs as i'm still focused on putting them together... i'm yet to get a game in as my mates refuse to "play gray" so i need to finish painting everything first

have you calculated those points cost for bare bones planes or with armaments?... as those extra's add up quickly!!

Cheers, Mithril

The costs given are for barebone planes - no upgrades, no additional weapons.

Actually, my imperials are 2 points more expensive since I built one thunderbolt as a fury.

But that one will probably get played as a normal thunderbolt for the first games.

edit:

The imperials could take up to 2 +2 +4 +4 additional weapons - which would cost them 24pts.

The orks could take 2 +2 +2 +3 +3 additional weapons - which would cost them 24pts.

Interesting - this would bring both to 112pts.

but: the fighta bommers could take 2x 2 big bombs instead at 4pts each - resulting in 28pts for upgrades resp. 116pts for orks
