Inquisition in Nov WD

I'm wondering about that relic cloak. Given that inquisitors are rightly T3, is -1 to wound that good? It seems like either the best or worst thing ever. Going from 2+ to 3+ to wound still feels rather like the poor guy is pasted. IDK, just some thoughts.

I admit, I'm perturbed by the fact that so many of the relics are melee weapons since inquisitors are not typically the toughest guys and probably don't want to be in melee that often.

BS of 4 isnt great on it's own but with rerolls to hit and wound that's actually really good. Ten acolytes with plasma dropping in a drop pod put out 20 shots, hitting on about 15 I think if they target their quarry.

I see them as very specialized units that are really only great against their specific quarry. That said, it seems that they can be kept relevant after their quarry is destroyed with jokaero support.

So a S3/T3 model, with BS/WS of 4, 1W, that basically has a deathwatch items list. Why? Just keep it with the las pistol and the sword, and let it do it's job to die.

Narrow-minded you are brother, an Acolyte can perform many tasks or as others say, be enhanced to perform them.

Also using the rules you can currently field Inquisiton Land Raiders that can snipe Characters and are untargettable with rull re-rolls on its 24 Heavy Bolter shots that ignore cover.

Expect an FAQ soon as they have clearly forgotten about the FW rules.

Also Hector Rex is *insane* for his cost. 3 casts and 4 denys.

Sadly I feel acolytes will be irrelevant. Some interesting things you can do if you pump them up with points, but they will be whipped from the board so fast it will make a head spin. Putting a plasma gun in the hands of a T3 A5+ W1 model is not sustainable.

As I said before... I get the feeling that this is the last 'current' published datasheet they will get.... next stop is legends so GW doesnt get the the whole 'faction squated' scenario again.....

we may see individual Inquisitors with 40K rules appear as special characters with <ORDO> Keyword but with DW /GK /AS /AM etc keywords in the future but they will be campaign book style releases*

*This is purely personal opinion

They have a tv show coming out with the =][= as the pov. That would seem bad timing to show them the door. =][= have been a major playable part of 40k from the very beginning. Rouge Trader hard back. They have not been updated like the Marines or elder but no way this is the last round up. I hope.

I probably wouldn't spend that much on them myself either but if you're going xenos their psychic power should keep them alive.

I feel their main use would probably be as Stormbolter-armed shield drones, with the current rules.

I'll be going with boltguns mainly because I've just ordered a box of Necromunda enforcers.

That is a perfectly valid option and requires that I ask you to start a WIP thread the instant some of those models are done.

However, consider finding a way to work some kind of under barrel onto those enforcer bolters. 1 pt for double the fire power is sweet.

Any idea what kind of weapons the acolytes can bring?

They come with Laspistol and Chainsword and can swap the pistol for:

Bolt Pistol

Needle Pistol

Or swap the Chainsword for:

Bolter

Combi-weapon

Flamer

Melta

Plasma

Stormbolter

Hot-shot Lasgun

Power Sword

Power Fist

Power Mail

Thunder Hammer

And again, no shotguns. "No Arbites For You!"

Le sigh..

Yeh.. That too. I got like 50 of these stormtroopers. Very sad. Though if I had to choose, I would leave everyone of them behind to have the Terminator =][=. Now that it us playable again I can wait another 8 years for Arbites... Edited by Lord Lorne Walkier

I respect your opinion and only time will tell, but I am almost 100% certain an Imperial Agents Dex will drop next year. I wasn't sure until I saw that they had already done it in Apocalypse.

Agents are perfect for small scale games; Eisenhorn already has KT rules; we'll eventually see at least one Inquisitor coming to Blackstone, and I imagine KT for other Agents [bSF characters already have KT rules, and of course the Starstriders, which will be re-released as a stand alone box]. It just makes sense to keep them in 40k as a value-add. I play BSF, KT and 40K; I will definitely pick up Apoc, but there's too many boxes with models that I want. When I purchase models, I prioritize in part based on how many different games have rules for them.

So I don't think Agents are going anywhere- heck, we're getting an SoS character model in February!

And before anyone mentions Talons of the Emperor, the SoS appear as Agents in Apocalypse, while Custodes continue to be their own separate army. I'm pretty sure it's the shape of things to come; the WD SoS dex explicitly refers to the Inquisition, though it doesn't  detail a formal hierarchical relationship either.

Time will tell.

Acolytes with Hot-Shots aren't bad choices either, relatively speaking.

I can't disagree with this enough. Don't get me wrong, Quarry is a great rule, but scions are troops choices, have a 4+ save, deep strike, access to regimental doctrines, superior strategem/character support, orders, a specialist detachment...(I could probably go on)

And they're several points cheaper, predominantly because they don't pay an obscene amount of points for the fairly basic gun they are carrying.

I second this; acolytes with hotshots are 12 points; storm troopers are 10 (if I'm not mistaken) and bring much more to the table. I'm not dismissing acolytes but if you're plan is to give them hotshots; that can be done better with the guard dex.

How can you field an inquisition land raider?

The short answer is...WITH STYLE!

med_gallery_53428_15422_65537.jpg

The long answer involves FW Index: Imperials Forces of the Astra Militarum and looking up the dataslate for the rather sexy Inquisitorial Land Raider Prometheus. It is arms with two quad heavy bolters and a winning smile.

Just An FYI, relevant because of the above quote...

Just as one of the most successful video games based on the old Warhammer Fantasy Battles world was completing development and being released... GW squatted the entire Fantasy Battles universe.

I don't think any loaned out IP licenses provide protection like this... GW will do whatever they want to do.
