So, in my local store we're currently doing a campaign that revolves around a mysterious, ancient weapon. I wrote quite a bit of lore for my regiment in this campaign and decided to translate and share it, if someones interested.

There may be some gaps, due to me only writing from the perspective of my regiment, but I will add in the lore bits we get from the campaign organizer and will happily answer any questions

I currently translated The "Prolog" and the first chapter from a total of 4, because we play a total of 4 games (currently at the third).

Italic parts are explanatory parts or the lore bits I got from the organizer.

Prolog

Tethoria is a highly industrialized world in a relatively calm area of the Segmentum Tempestus and known for its extremely efficient industry. The main export and imperial tithe, in addition to technological luxury goods, is primarily war material from the humble laser rifle to the mighty Leman Russ, but Regiments for the Imperial Army are also regularly mustered. The planet is surrounded by a thick cloud cover, which plunges the planet into an eternal twilight. During the day, only dimly lit by the low sunlight that penetrates through the cloud cover and by night illuminated by the lights of the mega cities that is thrown back by the clouds, the regiments from Tethoria are well versed in urban warfare under poor visibility conditions. The 38th Tethoria has existed for several thousands of years, where it was almost extinguished several times, but each time was practically rebuilt thanks to the merit in numerous campaigns.

Chapter 1

+++ Message of the Ordo Malus, Chief Inquisitor Jaderick, Highest secrecy level +++

High lords of Terra, in this way I must inform you, dark omens have appeared on the horizon. On one of our prison worlds, the name and place is not relevant, is a former inquisitor of the ordo xenos, who has fallen from the light of the Holy Emperor. Said Inquisitor has been waiting for his just punishment for 3 months now (Terran period). During the last three months in captivity, we tried to learn all the secrets of this Inquisitor to use them as weapons against our enemies. In painful psy examinations, we experienced fragments of memories. A total of 19 loyal psykers died trying to invade the spirit of the renegade inquisitor. The results are truly scary. A weapon from the time when the Holy Emperor still wandered among us has emerged from oblivion again. A weapon so horrible that it has handed the three times cursed traitor Horus to the dark forces. We do not know what kind of weapon this weapon is or what potential it holds - we only know that neither the archenemy nor a detestable xenos form must be allowed to hold this weapon in its hands. A weapon that has dwarfed a son of the Emperor .... High Lords of Terra, we have been able to extract a trace from the remnants of the heretic's mind. This track must be pursued with the utmost vigor! I expect your answer promptly - we have already seen enemy movements and increased activity! The Emperor protects.

+++ End of transmission, automatic memory erasure +++

The 38th Tethoria received the message of the Ordo Malleus while the regiment anchored over a nearby planet to increase supplies and ammunition, while the soldiers were allowed to enjoy their rare frontline leave. General Martinianus Ferrall did not hesitate for a second and immediately dispatched the 3rd Company, which was already fully stocked and on call, while giving the mobilization order to the rest of the regiment.

Colonel Titus Grimm looked at the target planet on his Pict screen and turned back to the tactical table of his ship. Attending officers and counselors discussed how they could most quickly secure the target. Because of the low fleet and Aeronautica support they had to land a bit outside and reach the destination by land. Due to the lack of intelligence, it was decided to send a reconnaissance squad to ensure that the army would not be ambushed and, if necessary, set up a beachhead.

Lieutenant Tiberius Bendegar sat in his chimera, rolling slowly forward, listening to the reconnaissance com's transmissions. They were slowly getting closer to the target coordinates and Auspex as well as direct sightings of the spotters confirmed increased enemy activity. Soon it would come to battle. Tiberius prepared his report for transfer to the main force a few miles behind, and then rechecked his equipment before opening the hatch again and joining his men.

The first battle was fought. It was an absolute chaotic Deathmatch of 12 players simultaneously playing on two tables, making alliances and breaking them on the go. In short, one of the most entertaining games I ever had. We all started at one table and had to reach the middle, to teleport into a ship, which then was the second table.

Chapter 2

The ship of the Word Bearers was buried under the planetary surface of Monarchia II for 10,000 years. The ship, with the apostle Garukk, collapsed there two years after the beginning of the heresy and has since been forgotten. The apostle of this ship carried a legendary and cursed weapon, voices of crazy psychics, the cursed Eldar, or nightmares about psychic people, suggest that this weapon must be very powerful.

Only a handful of Imperial troops could collect and secure the information in the face of the enemy. The battle was bloody and none of the sides retreated an inch. The Empire has bought a bloody victory just to buy the next clue expensive.

Here are three possible outcomes and information, considering only the people who got the information, know which way is the right one or which one is heading in the right direction - all others are - hopefully - getting there by detours.

1) Last transmission of Apostle Garukk to Erebus: My Lord, our plans to go the eight ways and to give eternal glory to the gods are in danger. On the way to Gamma 8 we were attacked by Eldar. Many of our brothers were handed over to the gods forever. I live, however! I still carry the weapon you have entrusted to me. I will now sacrifice the rest of the crew to find a stable route to Gamma 8 to pursue our plan. For Lorgar! - According to current records, Gamma 8 is a feudal planet, similar to the Middle Ages of the earth called Caerlon

2) Last transmission from apostle Garukk to Erebus: My Lord, our plans to go the eight ways and give eternal glory to the gods are a complete success. The Eldar, as the gods predestined us, attacked us and revealed themselves. After we landed, the last remnants of this wretched race were destroyed and the entrance was found in the net of the thousand gates. We now enter the second phase of our plan and will try to reach the planet Sodos. Our allies are strong and show the way! For Lorgar

3) Last transmission of Apostle Garukk to Erebus:: My Lord, our plans to tread the 8-fold pathway demands much of us. We have now found one of the planets and start digging. This material that Lorgar told us about was still found. These stones, which have a pylon-like shape, cause severe pain for me and the rest of the crew. The weapon you gave me is screaming nearby. The transport ship arrived today. We will load these stones and send them directly to Chamos, we will arrive a little later, a tiny part of the total destruction of the false Emperor is still missing! Honor the 8 way, honor Lorgar!

Spoiler: Right choice was 3

Angelika Konma was led with her tank crew from the detention cell of the Final Hostility to the colonel. For 2 days they had to blaze, even though they had important information, but finally they would be able to clarify the situation. What should they have done? There was no one left. Neither friends who could have supported them, nor enemies who could have fought them. Only those two strange Xenos fliers and an obviously crazy Knight. Everything else that had remained on the surface, they had erased and they had no chance against the Knight. Although their loyal Chimera had even withstood a direct attack, but that would not have gone well long and they had no weapons with which they could seriously harm the Knight or the Xenos flyers.

Angelika finally stepped in front of Colonel Grimm and saluted. Lord Commissar Galeos Leuze, standing next to the colonel, took the floor and came straight to the point: "Corporal Konma, what happened on this damned battlefield and why did you flee?"

Flee, that word, they have not fled, they have withdrawn. What else should they have done? Ram the Knight?

She recollected herself and began to tell: "It was absolute madness, Colonel, Lord Commissar. As soon as we arrived, we were attacked by cultists and demons. We also met a squad of custodes with whom we worked. Really, there were demons and custodes on the ground. I used to think they were legends, but there they were. And not only them, also Space Marines, various strange Xenos and even a seemingly crazy Knight. We tried to reach the portal, but as far as we could see, only one squad has made it, and we did not hear about anything from them. Lieutenant Bendegar and Commissar Atmore were intercepted and slayed by demons. It was terrible. We fired until our weapons were overheated and destroyed all signs of cultists, demons and xenos until only the Knight stood. We could not defeat him and since we did not hear from our people anymore, we took the worst and thought we should inform you about the situation. That's why we withdrew." Angelika took a deep breath and felt liberated. The words had come like a barrage, finally she could tell someone about it.

The colonel looked at her inquiringly, he leaned over to Lord Commissar Galeos Leuze and said something that Angelika could not hear, whereupon the commissar stepped forward and announced in a raised voice, "I hereby suspend the charges of cowardice in the field. She and her crew members are hereby rehabilitated." His expression had not changed during the whole time. He stepped back and Colonel Grimm took the floor: "Your report was confirmed by an inquisitor of the Ordo Malleus, who was also on site. He also reported that our squad that made it into the ship was instrumental in keeping Traitors and Xenos in check long enough for him to download the information on our target. Unfortunately, the squad was completely wiped out. The Emperor may have mercy on their souls, as well as those of all others who have fallen in his service on this day. We will support the Inquisition with all our strength and, to that end, set out today for our new destination on Caerlon. Make yourself and your vehicle ready to fight again. We expect to arrive at the target planet in about 2-3 weeks. Dismissed. "

Angelika and her 2 comrades saluted again, returned to the booth and made their way to the quarters of the Final Hostility to hopefully get something decent to eat.

Titus thoughtfully went through the corridors of the Final Hostility. He remembered the story of how his regiment, 635 Terran Standard Years ago, came to the honor of fighting alongside half a company of Space Marines. At least if the records were correct and not overdone. Much was blackened, but the story was told from generation to generation. How much of that was true, no one could say exactly. The 38th Tethoria was involved in the pacification of a rebellious world and had encircled a larger number of enemy troops in a city. Instead of marauding gangs and outlawes, the 38th Tethoria faced an excellently organized and armed force. Whoever led them proved tactical and strategic skill that was superior by far. The reinforcements requested did not show up and the encirclement was on the verge of breaking, as DropShips came out of the sky and Space Marines of the Dark Angels reinforced the troubled and exhausted ranks of soldiers. Shortly thereafter, space marines, glad completely in black armor, riding bikes crashed in the embattled urban area and disappeared between the buildings. The encircling process continued, with the help of the Space Marines and the resurgent fighting spirit of the 38th soldiers, and soon you could see bright flashes of light from the center of the city and hear battle noise. The sound of firing storm bolters and the sound of energy weapons filled the air and after less than an hour, the spook was over. The Space Marines withdrew without a word and disappeared in their DropShips towards orbit. Since that day the 38th had more often contact with the Space Marines of the Dark Angels Order that could be considered normal. Since that day, there have been the wildest rumors, speculations and stories, but no one really knew why the Emperor's angels appeared out of the blue and disappeared just as suddenly. Now fate, or perhaps the Emperor's hand, would bring them together with a successor chapter to the Dark Angels. Titus did not believe in coincidences, and certainly not after the arrival of the newcomers to whom he was underway. He reached the bulkhead of the closed area and the guards made way for him. The bulkhead closed behind him and he moved on to the hastily vacated quarters where he pressed the button on the side of the door. Nothing happened for a few seconds, and he almost feared he had come in vain when the door suddenly opened. In the room beyond were five oversized figures busy with the maintenance of their sacred equipment. Only one looked up as Titus entered. "What can I do for you, Colonel?" Thundered the voice of the Space Marine ...
