Psychic Awakening 2 rumours

Interesting fact. The BT vehicle sprue was the first CAD sprue.

I'd love it if they'd recut it as Repulsor doors - the Rhino ones are nearly the right size, but need the hinges converting.

I got them in using a mould line remover to widen the hatches, and swapping the hinges.

I do find it ironic that Primaris marines have to fit through smaller doors than they would to get in the Rhinos they don't fit in.

Besides the rumor from that store owner a week or two back of melee primaris early next year, most rumors give no indication for model support (which is different from saying 'no model support').

Unfortunately, the latest from Chapter Master Valrak's source today also specifically says 'no model support' whatsoever for BT.

a new sprue doesn't necessarily mean the old one will be gone. UM, DA, BA, and SW still have there oldmarine sprues.

granted, ours is a good six or so years older, but still. I don't think they'd stop producing the old one.

Regardless, I want a new one,

I for one sincerely hope we don’t get any model support.

GW seems to have turned its back on Chapter-specific kits outside of characters and upgrade sprues, which means a combat infantry unit wouldn’t be BT-specific, but generic. Given the proximity to the Codex release, I think it’s a fairly safe bet that won’t be happening. Which leaves our model support as one of:

- new upgrade sprue

- revamped (Primarisised) Character

- all-new Character

A new upgrade sprue would mean a very high likelihood of losing our existing upgrade sprue. Aside from meaning we’d lose things like Terminator shoulder pads, two current upgrade kits nets you about 40 components, whereas our existing kit costs slightly less and comes with about 140. This isn’t just worse value, it also means much less variation - we currently have 3 variant tabard torsos, with a move to the new style we’d probably get only 1. Every single tabard in your army is suddenly the same bit. No, thanks.

A Primarisised character couldn’t fit in a Land Raider Crusader. Hard pass, frankly. What’s much more worrying though is that this would very likely mean that the non-Primaris version would get pushed into Legends, which is a gentle way of saying ‘taken out back and shot, repeatedly’. I really would rather not have my Champion be consigned to the ‘never see the tabletop’ graveyard along with everything else that’s Open/Narrative Play only.

An all-new character would be Primaris and hence hold no interest for me personally, but at least it wouldn’t mess up anything else. That said, I find it hard to believe GW would release a new character without the associated upgrade sprue, so on balance, I’d rather not take that risk.

I’m happy with just rules and fluff updates because they don’t hurt what we already have. I’m just really unhappy that we don’t get a supplement full of fluff and flavour and art, but instead are crammed into a campaign book with other factions. We cried out for years that we were suffering for being crammed into the Marine Codex and really needed our own book to breathe, and GW took that as ‘oh ok, we’ll take you out of the Marine Codex... and cram you in a mixed-faction campaign book instead.’ :(

I am hoping for a new character that I can use, should I want to do a primaris-centric force at some point.

The upgrade sprue persisting and a new one coming would be cool. I just dont want to be stuck with exclusively one of the new Upgrade sprues. Sure they have some cool stuff in there, but just way less stuff. If I want to kit out another ten intercessors, I dont want to buy 5 upgrade Sets, just to get some tabards on them.

In other news spiel will open its Gates at 10. Thats in 1 h 11 minutes

If we don't get model support for years and years, the faction becomes irrelevant.

I suppose that’s a valid point.

I guess I just don’t trust GW to give us something new without taking something better away. We have a history of being on the receiving end of that treatment, and with GW artificially driving this wedge between Primaris and Firstborn it compounds the issue.

spiel's gonna last 4 days, but yeah any further reveals are probably still going to more specialist games stuff. They're probably saving a Pa2 reveal for next weekend when they have their own preview event thing

Dreadfane Was called 'one last thing' so maybe they Show something but I wouldnt hold my breath. Normally they do tell us when more is coming soon.

Hardly. Until this most recent release none of the other SM factions in C:SM except UM got model support, are they irrelevant? GW isn't doing special unit box sets anymore for SM. There's more money to be made selling models to all SM players than to just BT.  Model support these days is a character here and there and a possibly an upgrade sprue.

If nurgle, tzeentch, and khorne kept getting model support but not Slaanesh, what do you think might happen to the Emperor's Children? Would it increase or significantly decrease their popularity?

Despite the grim rumours, we still dont have the full picture.

I was suprised CF didnt get Pedro, a shame but they can still use the IF sprue, so not a complete loss.

We could still have a Generic Lieutenent and a sprue.

A new sprue will not invalidate the old one, and will for sure bring new blood in, with fancy new rules, thats why i hope we get one.

I will add, with Valrak's new source it now seems fairly certain no new models for us, but that doesn't mean no upgrade sprue.

Not every named character has to suffer the indignity of ending up as weird Primaris (poor Shrike). I'm looking forward to see Dorn's crusaders playing the leading role in an official publication, I don't need new models, just 'fixed' lore and rules, which enable us to play BT according to their background.

I'd argue that of the Primar-ized oldmarine characters, only Shrike (and maybe Calgar if you really don't like his Mk. X Gravis) ended up worse off, visually speaking. Khan and Tigerius look good. Regarding the new characters, I think Garadon looks alright, Feirros looks great, and Agatone looks amazing. The latter might be one of the best looking characters that Marines have ever had. Shrike suffered because RG are the sneaky chapter, and that automatically associates them with Mk. X Phobos. I wouldn't expect a Primar-ized Grim, Helbrecht, or EC to get a visual overhaul anywhere near as drastic as Shrike's. That's not even mentioning the possibility of a new character, who I would expect to look at least decent given the precedent set by the other Primaris chapter HQ's. Basically, a character being updated with modern sculpting techniques and dramatically improved proportions is only an "indignity" if you're intent on perceiving it as one (or they give him Mk. X Phobos).

I want new models, an upgrade sprue at the very least. The old BT sprue, while useful, is outdated; the details are soft, the pauldrons look awkward and bulbous, just compare the ones from the sprue to the pauldron in the DW vets kit, the difference is considerable. Furthermore, as I have said previously the addition of a primaris sprue doesn't necessarily mean we'll lose the old one. BA, DA, UM, and SW all kept their oldmarine sprues. The Dark Angels still have that sprue full of assorted upgrade bits that comes with company veterans.

Rules alone would just be a consolation prize; they're temporary. When compared to models, they represent a half-hearted, lukewarm commitment to supporting us on the part of GW. I remember Gathering Storm 1, and the two formations we were able to use (they also weren't even specifically for us, you had to use units from other factions for both of them). "oooohhhh GW loves us yaaaay we got formations years after everyone else." And then, six months later, those rules were rendered completely obsolete by 8th edition. Now, I wouldn't expect these rules to get overwritten as fast as GS's were, but the point still stands.

At the end of the day, the question is this: do we want the Black Templars to get more models in addition to what we had? Possibly resulting in a resurgence of the faction's popularity? Or do we want to get words on paper that may only last a couple years, out of fear of any change whatsoever? I don't like most of what they've done with Primaris; I don't like the majority of the units, I think just about everything but Mk. X Tacticus and some iterations of Gravis look like trash, and so forth. I'd still rather the Templars get onboard a train that's soon departing (with or without us) than get left behind.

I'm sorry if I come across as heated or combative, that's not my intent. I respect the opinions of yourself and those of the same mind, I'm just very passionate about this.

We don't even know we're getting nothing. It's not been confirmed yet. Sending angry mails to GW is typically really counterproductive. Especially when its based on rumors that may turn out to not even be true. Yes, we have no rumors towards model releases right now, that's not a good sign, but it's also not confirmation that there will be nothing. The book is supposedly a month away now or so, just a little over a week until we probably get a sneak peak.
