Ignores Line of Sight and Cover

I know that ignores line of sight weapons do not ignore cover, but how about when shooting at vehicles?

Basically, does a vehicle count as obscured when behing shot at by a weapon that can not see it but ignores line of sight?

Was playing a game the other day, and my opponent had his Russ tanks just touching terrain, and more than 50% obscurred from my tanks.

However I was saying that he would not get cover from my mortars because they dont need LOS and as such you cant be obscurred from them. Its not that they are ignoring cover, but they are ignoring the 50% obscured rule.

To me this makes sense but was i just cheating?

Being in cover along a line of sight between target and shooter is one thing, being in cover along a line between target and point were destructive energy (grenade explosion, fire, radiation etc) is acting from is another thing.

This issue would be easy in previous editions because then you would say that cover save can be taken if you are in cover along a line from the centre of template (were the destructive energy acts from) unless the weapon on top of not requiring LOS also have the ignore cover special rule. That is how it was played in 7 ed and still in 30k.

In 8ed with no templates and thus no scatter of the (centre of) template you must assume that the source of destructive energy acts from same point were the target model/unit is, therefore, you cannot be in cover along a line between centre of destructive energy and the target model since those two points are the same point.

So my answer is that if a weapon in 8ed has the ignores LOS and when rolling to hit do hit, then the target cannot be in any cover from those successful hits since there weapon impact point (source point of a i.e. exploding grenade) is the same point were the model is and there is no cover between those two points.

Unless the weapon has a rule that over rides the general rules, the general rules apply.  The rules for ignoring LOS have nothing that changes the way cover works.

So, even though it might not make much sense, you apply the normal cover rules to weapons that ignore LOS.

This is not what i was asking.

I know that weapons that ignore LOS do not ignore cover.

I am asking would a a vehicle/mosnter get cover from be obscured?
