Thanks Verux! My scheme has gradually chnaged over the course of painting him so I thought I'd give the Big Boy the update he deserves

I have only 2 Death Guard models with me at the moment but I'm going to be painting my Dark Eldar  for a bit, they've been neglected for far too long

It was my birthday not that log ago and my lovely mates pitched together and got me Mortarion, I was going to buy him myself but instead I bought some more plague marines and more pox walkers and also the Wurmspat Beastgrave team because they're just too nice not to have.

 

Over the last 2 weeks I've been slowly working on Mortarion. I built bits of him and then sprayed him to make sure I could get to all the nooks and crannies, although as it turns out I managed to do loads of details on parts of the model that were never seen once put together

 

So here's the WIP so far, I've still got the scythe and pistol to go. C&C is always welcome!:

The orange is looking good! I forgot how much the model has going on and all the extra details like robes. When I first read the Mortarion post prior to seeing the picture I thought of a small traffic cone with moth wings haha. Definately not a traffic cone, looks good. What colors you doing the wings?

Haha, I defintely had that worry when I started painting him, will this supposedly scary model look dumb? Thankfully so far he looks alright

I was working on my Dark Eldar until I got Morty, I love this army and this project and I'm always looking for ways to continue working on it!

Morty looks great, but I think you need to put some pale blue highlighting around the holes in the front of his plasma pistol, and make the holes white rather than black - right now, the pistol comes across as just being blue rather than the glow effect I think you are going for.

Thanks Dr, I did go back after I took pictures and have brightened the blue (especially on the heat guard) to make it look more energy esque like you suggestted

I used a lot of Putrid Blightkings arms and weapon bits for the 13 new plaguemarines just to spice things up a bit, get some more poses and some different looking weapons and so da they're looking great

I managed to get a Defiler cheap on ebay as it needs a lot of work. This will be my first jump into Greenstuff as I need to fill gaps and  a missing leg as well as the missing pistons on some of the legs, I'd like to Nurglify it too. I also managed to get a properly old school metal Chaos dreadnought, I believe its the 1995 dreadnought. Lots more work to do!

I'll be GMing a crusade  with my group which is going to be great, I'll be taking my DG. I've self imposed some rules where, for example players can't take special characters unless they are really desperate to run them or have a good narrative reason to have them. For this reason I won't be running Typhus and will instead be using a Lord of Contagion so I decided to paint one up and get him ready. Here he is done:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Indominitus box has side tracked my attention for now but next weekend is my first game of 9th! I'll be using my DG with a small 500 point game so that'll be cool!

Thanks Plague_Lord, it definitely is derpy but I absolutely love it for it to be honest. He's so happy to be here! 

 

Also managed to get my Defiler painted up, still waiting on the milliput to dry on the scourge to get that on. I got him ridiculously cheap on eBay and have done some work to fill gaps/ give him some mutations. The skin on the chest is too bright due to the light and the orange is super washed out but here he is so far:

Nice defiler! I'm still converting mine up, waiting on a couple bits. They are looking prime point wise now and it's nice they can multi task with ranged and melee. You plan on giving yours DR or trying it without for a few games?

I recently painted some plague marines that were"extras" I had lying around here. I made them off-white/greyish but wished I foud this thread earlier.

 

Good thing I still have some on sprue, might go for orange on the rest.

Lord Felthius looks awesome in your color scheme too! I normally hate his face, but damn if you didn’t pull it off!

I noticed going back through your older pics too, your line work is rock solid. Super jealous.

On a side note, I’ve been working on AOS stuff at the moment. Filling out all the war bands for Warcry, and just started on a blightking warband (15 so oops a little big)... anyway, I was looking up pics online and came across some blightkings done in a very similar color pallet to yours. It totally made me think of your army.

Anyway. Awesome stuff, I can wait to see more, keep it up!

Thank you Putrid! I'll mostly be playing Crusade for a bit so I will likely be giving this guy DR as strategems like that in the crusade system are perminent and cost RP instead of CP.

In normal games I likely will as well, it's so worth doing imo

I love Felthius just because of how derpy he looks, he's been nicknamed "Mr Potatohead" and it's stuck

I think I've seen those Blightkings, orange isn't a normal colour scheme for Nurgle so they do stick out in my mind

My only criticism is that the whole army appears to be banged up, mutated or otherwise... except for the Rhino. Don't get me wrong, it still looks great but it does stand out compared to the rest of the army. That said, you've done all the models justice.

Thanks man! For me personally the Rhino would be seen as disposable, it gets the marines from A to B. If they're trying to take an implacment, it's the first thing to be hit and probably destroyed. They probably just mass produce rhinos when they're about to take on a planet rather than keep them in storage, so in my head they wouldn't be mutated or banged up as they haven't spent enough time on a ship.

I'm back in the saddle again with the smelly boys! With the hype hitting me hard for the new codex, I'm jumping back in after working on my Eldar for quite some time.

What better model to start with than a Forgeworld dread? I still have no idea why these went OOP.

I also have started on another bloat drone with a alternative paint scheme to the previous one to shake it up a bit
