Revolutionary War IG Army

So, I'm looking to mix up my IG army and use my historical interest to get me back into the game. With that in mind, I'm looking at using these guys from Perry Miniatures as the base.

I know that they're a bit smaller than GW IG. I'm hoping it isn't too huge a difference. I've already ordered some of the company's napoleonic French dragoons to model into Death Riders, since I plan on running these guys as Death Korps of Krieg.

I ordered a box of dragoons already to start converting and check the scale. I don't want them to be too small but I don't mind a bit of work. I'm not 100% sure how I'll convert muskets into lasguns and whathaveyou but I'll figure that out once some models get in and I can really see what I'm dealing with.

Has anybody seen anything similar that they can point me to for inspiration? Any advice on bits sites whose bits are a bit on the smaller side? I especially need shotguns that won't look huge on these guys.

I have to ask if Games Workshop ever published rules for the "las-lock" mentioned in several works (most notably Dan Abnett's) as a predecessor to the lasgun. If you can't justify having a Regiment of las-lock-armed guardsmen, you may have to spend a LOT of time and money replacing those muskets with lasguns.

I'm partially thinking of making them DKoK for two reasons. First, Death Riders. Yeah buddy. Secondly, is the fact that DKoK lasrifles are actually some kinda bolt-action lasrifle. It is why, from my understanding, the DKoK do not have FRFSRF, as their rifles are physically incapable of that kind of full auto. I'm wondering what I can with some wire wrapped around the barrel like some kind of primitive cooling unit.

I’d say definitely do some kind of weapon swap (40k weapons are vastly more chunky than historicals) also, put GW type 25 mm bases under whatever thin base they come with( the minis may be slightly shorter and will be a lot less chunky, so you don’t want to have them start off lower as it will exaggerate the difference)

(I used warlord games minis for mine as they seemed a little bulkier than perry... though nowhere near GW)

I'd probably use freeguild handgunners to get the aesthetic right. I'd then use Mordian officers or a freeguild general with wargear from a cadian or catachan sprue. I'd actually use normal Guardsmen weapons, and give them rules for Mordians. They fight in ranks just like a napoleonic army would have.

I’d consider that, except I want my infantry to have some gosh darned tricorn hats.

I've found the army/weapon bits that'll work. Perry Miniatures seems to be on the same scale as Victoria Miniatures, which makes some friggin' sweet models, imo. I'm probably only going to acquire bits from her store but they're nice and I know they fit because I already had a banner left over from a previous product. My first box of Perry Miniatures came in (French Dragoons for Rough/Death Riders) and they have some dismounted minis. The banner fit very well.

I have a bit and a model, and they line up well enough. As long as the revolutionary war colonial is the same scale as a dismounted french dragoon, and Victoria Miniatures has the same scale between banners and rifle arms, then I should be fine. I'm going to order a set of arms (just one) as soon as I order the infantry models. I'm hoping it all works out. I might be a bit off. If the arms don't fit perfectly, I'm going to try a set of arms from the female set like you recommended.

Some minor updates on this project. I've got a mock up of what I'm thinking about for engineers. I had some Anvil Industries shotguns on hand from an abandoned project back when I used Cadians. They fit...ok(ish). If I use them again I'll probably trim the arms up a bit to make them fit better.

I'm still waiting for my Victoria Miniatures bits to come in but here is the model that will be featuring some of her lances when they get here. I love the detail on this model and look forward to making a full detachment of them.
