Faith and Fury WarComm

Just took a look into the Warhammer Community for Faith and Fury, a little surprised I didn't see a post about it.

Generic Space Marines standpoint

Rumors confirmed about the Chaplain!  Suggesting that the others will be the same!

Surprises -

Masters of the Chapter! - Does this mean Captains will get different abilities besides re-roll hit rolls?

Chapter Litanies!!! - seeing as it is one page, probably just one per Supplement but nice!

Chapter Ancient - What's this going to be?

Chapter Champion - What's this going to be?

About what is expected for our Crusader Brethren

Chapter Ancient will probably be extra range or +1 to the last attack aura, I am very excited about these because all the Chapter/Company specialists being the same in the codex was the most stupid waste of an entry the codex has and Im glad now there's a reason for them to exist. I like Ancients so hopefully they'll get some cool relic and warlord trait and a buff to the Champion will also be very welcomed for my Black Templars so I can have 3 very killy characters and 4 if I want a Chaplain with the relic Crozius.

The UM supplement already has an option for a chapter champion and ancient so I am imagining it will be more of that but opened to everyone now through CP. I'm ok with that though.

It looks to me like these will mostly work for Primaris stuff, with the exception of the champion and techmarine. From the chaplain one that we’ve seen, it looks like you’ll be able to play the strat on any chaplain – Primaris or not. I expect the same for the others – but of course for now there is no primaris techmarine or champion to use it on.

It would be pretty good if there was a stratagem or points upgrade to give them +1 atk, +1 wound and the relevant primaris keywords. Then I'd have a good excuse to get the Feirros model.

The section of F&F where these can be found doesn't seem to be marked as 'data sheets', in the way that the Black Templar datasheets in their section is... so maybe these are just rules sections that presents ways to upgrade any existing datasheets through keywords perhaps? So that you can for instance, upgrade any "apothecary" model to a 'chief apothecary' and so on?

I'm pretty sure that's exactly what's been described. The master of sanctity one is a buff for a single chaplain, costing 1cp. It doesn't change anything except to give him another litany and let him use two litanies per turn - which is of course very powerful. You can use it on anything with the keyword "chaplain". https://www.warhammer-community.com/2019/11/11/faith-fury-a-first-lookgw-homepage-post-3/

I don't know if the others will all be the same as that, but I expect they will be similar. Pick a Librarian, he's now a chief librarian and is somewhat better (maybe knows another power and can cast/deny once more, maybe a bonus to cast or whatever). I wonder if Tiggy will get a FAQ so you can't have another chief librarian as well as him.

FWIW I kind of dislike this kind of thing. Marines are getting a ton of free bonuses at the moment. It’s impossible to balance these because they cost nothing. Piling more buffs on top of what’s already the top codex is very questionable, however characterful it might be.

I'm just very confused why these strats weren't included in the book that came out like 3 months earlier.

production time.

these were probably written months after the space marine books got sent to production.

and they probably didnt want another "space wolves codex" incident

Both Cassius and Tiggy already have the appropriate keywords to prevent stacking them, so no FAQ needed.

Stratagems limit you to one CHIEF LIBRARIAN / MASTER OF SANCTITY in your army.  Both Tiggy and Cassius have those respective keywords.

Cool. That’s sorted then.

I’m very curious to see what the champion is like. I guess he’ll probably be a bit more badass than standard. I’ve got the Victoria guard models spare after making Marneus Calgar into Pedro for my Crimson Fists. They might make a great starting point for a chapter ancient and champion.

Maybe? Everything is so pre-planned these days that its hard to give them the benefit of the doubt. Especially since the july white dwarf had chief librarian and a bunch of the new stuff in it already; the new marine rules have been planned for a while, but the masters of the chapter probably got cut to make PA2 more attractive to marine players.

Chapter Litanies

It’s been a great year for anyone who plays UltramarinesWhite ScarsIron HandsRaven GuardImperial Fists or Salamanders with the release of their codex supplements* and new models. It’s about to get even better for these First Founding Chapters as Faith & Fury brings them each a new litany for their Chaplains to use. Use Medusan Furore on your Iron Hands to make them even better in close combat.

Alongside these new Litanies, Space Marines characters of any Chapter can be upgraded to be part of Chapter Command through the use of a Stratagem. This makes your Chaplains, TechmarinesLibrariansApothecaries, Ancients and Company Champions even better and also gives them access to new Warlord Traits and Relics. Let’s take a look at some of the new rules.

Master of Sanctity

When a Chaplain becomes the Master of Sanctity, they have ascended to be the spiritual leader of the Chapter. Give him a Sacrosanct Rosarius Relic so that he can take advantage of his closeness to the Emperor with improved protection.

Master of the Forge

Masters of the Forge are peerless mechanics, the best of the best Techmarines. Their skills are reflected in their upgrade Stratagem – the random element of how many wounds they repair on a vehicle is done away with, making it easier to plan your strategies.

Chief Librarian

Being a Chief Librarian is a prestigious position. Not only do they get to choose what fines to levy to any Battle Brothers that return copies of the Codex Astartes late, but they are also able to attempt to Deny an additional psychic power in your enemy’s Psychic phase.** Give them the Neural Shroud Relic to increase their chances to Deny the Witch at longer range.

Chief Apothecary

It’s time to turn your Apothecary into a supercharged battlefield medic. With the Selfless Healer Warlord Trait, you can provide medical attention to the same unit twice in a turn – never mind first aid, you could call this second aid!

40kFaithFurySM-Nov15-SelflessHealer4en.j

Chapter Ancient

When upgraded, your Ancient has the choice of two Chapter Banner Relics to carry into battle. Give him the Standard of Righteous Hatred and make your Space Marines deadly accurate when they make their final, inspired attack.

Chapter Champion

Only the very best of Company Champions ever become the Chapter Champion. These are true masters with a blade, able to find the smallest gap in their enemy’s guard while easily defending themselves.

40kFaithFurySM-Nov15-ChapterChampion6ncs

Not only are the Masters of the Chapter amazing on the tabletop but they also open up some awesome conversion possibilities. For example, the Chaplain in Mk IV power armour would make an ideal base for a Master of Sanctity.

Psychic Awakening: Faith & Fury is available to pre-order from Saturday. Get ready to field your Masters of the Chapter by picking up the Space Marines Company Command squad, which features an Ancient, an Apothecary and a Champion.

* And with Faith & Fury, the Black Templars are also joining in the fun!
** This will be really useful with all of those extra Chaos Space Marines Sorcerors that will be running around soon.
