TorvaldTheMild Posted November 12, 2019 Share Posted November 12, 2019 Need some advice, I'm going to fork out for either the Ares or the Orion but I can't decide which, the Orion is amazing for its transport capacity and its no slouch at offence but the Ares is a beast at offence. rcoon Posted November 12, 2019 Share Posted November 12, 2019 Mathematically the Ares is bad and not at all worth its points. A Shadowsword is better. The Orion puts out more consistent dakka overall, and the troop carrying capacity is excellent. Unfortunately they're both pretty crap in any mildly competitive scene - I've had my Orion one-shotted by an Iron Hands Leviathan Dreadnought. If you really want to buy one (don't), then get the Orion, but honestly, as an owner, you're wasting your money for anything more than a pretty centrepiece. MustertheCustards Posted November 25, 2019 Share Posted November 25, 2019 (edited) If you're not playing tournaments at a high level, both are perfectly fine, just keep them out of range of their army, and remember hovering and not moving into their weapon range can be better than the -1. I love my Orion and I have an Ares on the way. They're not the most efficient units in the game, but can be brutal with a good deployment and careful play. They're also super cool.
