What's in store for us in 2020 ?

So far :

- Index Astartes Dark Angels was published in White Dwarf September

- Dark Angels, Space Wolves & Blood Angels (3rd Psychic Awakening book) are the last First Fondations chapters without a updated codex

- Khan & Lion El'Jonson are the last Primarchs without a 30K model

- Mortarion, Magnus & Roboute are the only Primarchs with a 40K model = 2 traitor 1 loyal = next Primarch loyal ?

- Regarding traitors Perturabo, Fulgrim, Angron (bannished) & Lorgar are still "alive"

- Regarding loyalists are not officially dead : Lion, Khan, Leman, Vulkan & Corax

- Our last Codex tell us that the Lion is alive and well but still sleeping on the Rock

- Luther escaped and is leading a Fallen force big enough to threaten the Imperium itself = new CSM faction incoming ?

- Back in August a persistant rumor was about a new GW box "the Lion" with DAs fighting a mysterious (new ?) faction with an Aquila (Fallens ?)

- The last game box with Darks Angels was Dark Vengeance back in 2012

- GW is releasing Slaves of Darkness from half-December (up to half-January ?)

- In February 2020 the Black Library will release a new Primarch book about our Lord and Savior

Did i missed anything ? What do you think is in store for us in 2020 ?

30k Lion I think is a definite, given that book 9 is the next release, and FW are already pushing 1st Legion units out there.

There has been no speculation at all around Dark Angels in Psychic Awakening, but that's probably because we're probably being covered in book 5, and we're only just on to the rumours for book 5. Blood Angels getting a Primaris Mephiston perhaps indicates that we'll have our own Primaris release. I doubt it would be Ezekiel, but I wonder if GW might try and build on the Faith & Fury narrative, as well as try and weave in the Dark Angels Primaris plot, by giving us a Primaris Asmodai - or maybe Sapphon!

With murmurings of 9th edition being released in 2020, I fear that's when we'll see our next update. But I'd expect it to be a significant update because Luther being on the loose is a part of the narrative that GW cannot ignore. And if Luther on the loose commanding a legion of Fallen isn't enough to wake the Lion, then I don't know what is!

It's going to be interesting to see how GW handle BA in psychic awakening 3 that was teased today. If they just go down the route if doctrines with a special chapter specific flavour ala the supplements I'll be a bit miffed as they could have just included that in the Faq.

I'm hoping for a unique mechanic for them as that will point to similar for us DA players.

Book3 of Plastic Awakening will be Tyr vs BA and book 4 will be SW vs orks

DA wil be in one of the next books with a single primarized character and some new rules

in 30K maybe FW will release the book about DA and the Lion miniature (alongside other DA specific units too)

but don't forget that WS are already out in HH but they are still waiting the Khan

Khan will be the last one as he is planned (as far as I've heard) in two versions - single and with his speeder so it seems very likely that Lion will be released along the Book 9 just as Sanguinius this year.

Nevermind i've found it :

https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/1440/780018.page#10587696

Volume 1: Asuryani vs. Drukhari (October 2019)

Volume 2 : Chaos vs BT (end of November)

Volume 3: Blood Angels vs. Tyranids (before 2020)

Volume 4: SW vs Ork (inevitably after)

It was a month and a half ago so it seems very likely.

Yes

According to rumors PA4 will be out January 2020 and then rumors don't have any clue about the content of following books

We can just hope that DA will be in PA5 but we are dire that all 40k armies Will get their update in PA books before new edition will Land in June/July 2020 (so it is probable that we can have 8 PA books in total if they keep releasing one book each month)

I'm interested to see what match up we'll get. It would be good to have something that ties in to the release of Luther by Marbas. I don't believe we know what Chaos god he is aligned to, but given the history of Caliban, perhaps Death Guard might be likely?

Likewise, the Dark Angels had a long campaign against the Thousand Sons and Changeling, so perhaps they're an option too.

EDIT: Just found this snippet in the codex:

"Worst of all, his form is a direct affront to the memory of the Dark Angels Primarch, for Marbas’ mutated head has taken on the twisted shape of one of the much-feared lions that once dominated the forests of Caliban."

Here is the "Lion" talked about in the box set rumours...

Well, if it's a Dark Angels force fighting against Fallen, then that would require some sort of Deathwing / Ravenwing composition. And given that GW aren't really doing new regular marine models anymore, that *could* suggest Primaris DW/RW...

Likewise, you couldn't really do a box with Marbas, existing Fallen models and a Rhino Marbas would need some sort of Elite support unit, right?

Well according to the position of the Rock in Psychic Awakening :

map-3-psychic-awakening.jpg

It could be :

Thousand Sons, Imperial Guard or Adeptus Mechanicus.

But TS were already released...

I think it's too early for Fallens and our boxed set, they will probably hit at the same time as our V9 Codex.

Which book is that map from? I thought I heard a while ago the rock had crossed the rift and was looking for Luther out in the dark imperium

Yeah i heard about that too but it's from the hacked PA website itself :

I'm not quite convinced. While they do show the different areas on the PA map, the one that they are comparing it to and that was posted a few comments above in the thread is a paper map and I'm not sure which relese it's from (some sort of limited edition box or codex maybe?). I'm not sure what time period it's depicting and could be just after the great rift opened, and not the time period during PA, so I'm not sure it proves anything

I have a feeling that the studio has some big things lined up for 40k DA, but they’re holding off until FW drops 30k rules and backstory for I Legion and the Lion (strong indications of that for 2020). No Primarch will be released in 40k until they have come out from FW. Mark my words on that.

Early 2019 when I was at WHW and the black library weekender, he intel I gleaned was that the Lion’s model was in the manufacturing testing phase (implication that the sculpt was done,  it they were figuring out how to mass produce it). Simon Egan hinted that he was still working on Khan, especially since he was trying it figure out how to do him both mounted and on foot, but then again Simon seems like the kind of guy who talks about everything in vague ways and theories...smart fellow who wants to keep his job.

I think the only think in Store for us is a entry in one of the Psychic Awakening book.

But a full new Codex is highly unlikeable now seeing that BA are also only getting an entry in the next Psychic Awakening book.
