CJL's Primaris Space Wolves (Update: Primaris Grimnar)

Hello All,

I thought I would share my current on going Primaris Space Wolves project. Seen as though I am to in-patient to wait for the Primaris treatment for the Space wolves it looks like I have a lot of kitbashing and converting to do. I plan on doing Primaris Versions of wolf lords like Krom, Grimnar, Morkai and Harald Deathwolf (going to try and have him still on a wolf but in primaris). Also planning on doing primaris wulfen and other characters like Arjac Rockfist and so on. Any how here is my first group of Wolves, Krom Dragongaze & 5 Blood Claws.












 

Any C&C would be welcomed

Really nice work, there. The Krom primaris conversion is particularly well done; and the painting on each is legit :D 

Only thing I'd say, is that you've run into the same issue I have with some of my efforts - that the Primaris arms and wrists ... don't exactly play nice with 'regular' Astartes hands. The way I've been getting around this myself is by utilizing terminator sized hands (or, for that matter, primaris hands, although I haven't done as much with those) and simply building weapons back onto them sourced from the regular Marine parts. It's occasionally a bit hit and miss , because not all sorts of terminator hands are similarly sized at the wrist , and it can be additionally fiddly cutting off, re-mounting whatever it is they're supposed to be carrying. However, on the other hand, there's some pretty legit grey knight terminator sword hands and such that might be a cool vibe for Wolves - and , of course, actual Wolf terminators [both GW and FW] to grab hands/weapons from. 

Anyway, you've put in a really decent effort thus far - the freehands on the shoulderpads are nice and crisp, and the hair effects , wolf tails/pelts are also strikingly cool. Keep it up!

I really like what you've done so far.

 

The bases definitely need some work; the grey on grey loses the model. Some brown pigment powders would be a quick and effective fix.

 

As a nit-pick I'd like the brass a bit darker to add more contrast, too.

Awesome work so far - the kitbash/conversions have really come together well - particularly the Krom update.

 

The paintwork on the different textures - armor vs. pelts vs. skin - is really well done - looking forward to seeing more!

Thank you all for your replies and kind comments! The bases for these are a sticking point for me at the moment as you are right. it looks bland and washes out the model, i am thinking about using some valhallan blizzard and putting some snow patches on there? what do you think, i am going for a fenris style base so slate and snow

Hello All, 

 

just a little update. I have been putting together my next squad which will be Logan Grimnar & 5 Wolf Guard Terminators all in Primaris Armour.  I have used a Aggressor lower body and a Terminator Upper Body to create my own Primaris Terminators. Tell me what you think. I have also done a mock up of Primaris Erik Morkai, another wolf lord I will be doing in the future. I have used the only image I have found of him fighting a drukhari, he looks borderline heretic to me  any ways here are the pictures
