Nottingham day trip suggestions/advice/keyboard tour guide

I'll be making the pilgrimage to Nottingham sometime over the Christmas week for a day and I understand there's a lot of the miniature industry based there. Besides the mandatory Warhammer World visit, I'm looking for other suggestions on what to see/visit. I'm a fan of many game systems and Scifi, fantasy, and historical minis, so I'm open to anything. I plan on stopping by Mantic and Warlord games as well, but are there any other gems I need to see? What about non-miniature related locations, anything a must see?

Might not be the sort of advice you're after, but I've found that it's pretty much got an adjacent tram stop, so it's great to use one of the park and rides and avoid all the hassle. Can then get the tram to Beeston where you'll find Chimera, a board game and hobby shop (non-GW): https://www.chimeraccg.co.uk/

Edit: just found out Chimera closed in October.

Sneinton Market's supposed to be good but I've never been. Lot of creative places there.

If you're a thrill seeker there's a really old dodgy arcace called the West End which has an escalator that cut some poor sod's toe off. But last I went there was a cool collectables shop there (might be gone by now).

I went to Warhammer World for my first visit last month, and it was every bit as fun as I’d hoped. Friday night, so Bugman’s and the gaming area was dead busy, but the exhibition hall was deserted- I had it wholly to myself; I’d strongly recommend trying to time it so that happens.

It’s Nottingham per se, nor is it strictly game related, but I got a far bigger kick than I thought I would out of the couple of hours I spent in Sherwood Forest in the summer to break up a long drive for my dogs. I wasn’t a *massive* Robin Hood nerd as a kid, and appreciate that none of it is fully real, but i was taken aback by the massive grin that was on my face seeing the Major Oak et al, though YMMV. December is probably a different proposition to August too...

Contrary to what I will admit is definitely the popular opinion, I would definitely give Annie’s a miss - it is awful these days (not just a fall from grace, but really really bad now). Bohns do a great burger if that’s what you’re looking for.

Other things to do in Notts: Ye Olde Trip - very cool old pub; Ludorati - board game cafe place which sounds like you’d like; very cool new VR zombies place which is a lot of fun; Christmas markets are fairly decent; there are a number of good escape rooms in the city centre; restaurant six at Trent bridge has an awesome whiskey bar with a great view and very cool setting; and if you like curry then every curry house on Maid Marian way is brilliant (with Memsaab probably being the best).
