Legends is up.

Loss of power maul is also a bit of a shame. I quite like the look for industrial type regiments and it’s a fun way to mix up the standard power sword. Plus anything with +S is important to get any work done in melee at base S3

You should still be able to play them in anything but tournaments and I wouldn't be shocked if Legends is allowed in any tournaments.

I wouldn't be surprised either.  I mean, if anything in Legends was OP broken the tourney players would be buying it up and it probably wouldn't have been put into legends in the first place.

Not surprised with any of this.

Basically what the Codex did already.

I am not sad about losing any of this, Rougr Riders where pretty bad and all the Power weapons i never used

Does legends invalidate the index options?

As far as i understands it, that's the whole point of Legends.
The Index is now invalid for Matched Play.

It's my understanding that index units are only invalid for matched play if they were included into legends. Honestly I really hate the concept of legends. It's GW saying that we squatted these models, but you can still play with your roughriders if you really want to do that. To be fair, it wasn't as bad as it could have been. I thought that we might have lost access to everything not in the codex.

Legends doesn't invalidate anything for matched play.

https://www.warhammer-community.com/2019/12/04/warhammer-40000-legendsgw-homepage-post-1/

The Warhammer 40,000 Legends page contains datasheets and additional wargear options, definitive profiles that will live on their own dedicated page, enabling you to unleash your treasured classics in open, narrative and matched play games, with full points provided to help you balance your games.

A word to the wise, however – these profiles will not be curated as part of the annual points review, and as such aren’t really intended for use in competitive play (unless, you know, you want to organise an event where Legends are welcome).

On the following pages you will find a datasheet and additional wargear options. Used alongside Codex: Astra Militarum, these allow you to field certain legendary models in your games. Some datasheets found within this document contain keywords within angular brackets – rules for determining which keyword these can be replaced with can be found in Codex: Astra Militarum. The rules here can be used in any type of play – open, narrative or matched, and full points are provided to help you balance your forces.Warhammer Legends will not form part of our ongoing balance review for the wider Warhammer 40,000 game – and we don’t recommend Legends units for competitive tournaments. This means that event organisers and attendees alike can guarantee that everything they’re gaming with is easily available to everyone and has been subject to the same rigorous balance and playtesting process.Of course, organisers are also free to specify that they will be including Legends rules if they like, allowing the use of the full classic range at their event

Where does it say the Indexes are now invalidated? Legends follows the same principle as before...use the most recent datasheet.

If something like Shotguns are not in the Legends bit, you follow the same flow chart we used before to determine whether something can be used.

They forgot about the officer shotgun option. What am I supposed to do with my three metal Mordian Lieutenants converted with shotguns?

(edging off topic) Necromunda used to have a 'bolt shell' option for shotguns, where they effectively jammed a bolt round into a shotgun shell which acted like a sabot.  It was ridiculously unreliable, but the tech savvy gangs could make it work.  -Using that as the justification- use your shotguns as bolters?
