I promise the article is very informative and not as boring as it sounds!

Good article, and I didn't even have to sit in the base theater for it!

I'm slowly wending my way through articles. Free time evaporated these last couple weeks.

I really enjoy the Artistic Content articles, personally - they're my favorite above all, being a more narrative player. I'm also interested in terrain building, and seeing cheap ways to do so is great.

I am going to be releasing some incredible artistic content around the end of the month.  I am awaiting terrain and some huge surprises to arrive.  I am going to be demonstrating a complete build of a battlefield, utilizing well over 30 different elements.  I am going to cover the following:

  • Modifying GW terrain models to enhance function
  • Modifying GW terrain models to enhance form (thematic)
  • Winter themed terrain
  • Winter enhancements to a battlefield
  • Ice cave build
  • Bunker builds
  • River build (like my lava)
  • Ice sheets, icicles, and snow (way more in-depth and a more effective look than just aquarium rocks)
  • ICBM launch facility (terrain) with "modular" scale missile
  • 6 Launch station control panels for objectives
  • Scale electrical cabling bundles
  • Terrain reviews
  • Narrative and tactical perspectives before creating the battlefield (Brainstorming)
  • Lifelike chemical facilities
  • Pipeline terrain enhancements and perspectives on use
  • Scatter terrain molding and casting
  • Thematic game mats and the narrative possibilities
  • Military narrative: Missile base/Northern tier bases
  • Mirrored bases with a unique twist
  • Death Company model done with colored pencils

and so much more.

Expect ALL of this around the end of the month.

This is just a "short list" of what is incoming.

Huh.

I've been doing most of the modern military stuff already. I just need to get better at considering more angles of the battle on the fly.

The biggest thorn in my side is armies that like to assault a lot. My Raven Guard are decent in an assault when they are the ones charging, but not very good at being charged.

Finally finished this monster of a battle report!

This was one of the best games I have played in a LONG time.  If you want to see assault at its finest, check this out.  More explanations, visualizations, and just pure awesome content than ever before.  You will learn a lot, and be entertained as well!

I truly believe I create the best photo battle reports in the world.  Feel free to dispute that, it will only help me to make them better!

I have been meaning to create a counter-assault article. Seems like a good time to get it published! It is a powerful ability that isn't used to the fullest nearly enough.

See my latest battle report for great examples of counter-assault doing real work.

Happy Pre-Valentine's Day!

I don't have any sweeties or chocolates for you, but I do have another modern military article for you to read.

Part 5 deals with control and countermeasures.  I will be doing a sub-topic article tomorrow on the psychological aspects of Warhammer 40K.  It needed to be its own article.

Control?  Countermeasures?  How do you fight your battles?

Find out here: https://overwhelmingodds40k.com/modern-military-vs-warhammer-40k-part-5/

It is a military tradition to "sign" weapons meant for the enemy.  So I am taking suggestions for a "placard" that will be attached to my ICBM.  So what do you all think it should say?

Sky is the limit, go crazy.

I will decide on the winning suggestion next Friday.  Your words will be immortalized on my terrain and in an article.

This ICBM has an "Exterminatus" theme, but feel free to suggest whatever you want.

My starting contribution:  "Leave not a single ember aglow"

This would "literally" be an eye for an eye!  "destroy my planet, I will exterminatus yours...".

It is a great idea, as I could make it a Cadian themed ICBM to go with the insignia.

We are off to a great start!

Something has escaped from its cell.

Come check out my 20th "Artistic Content" article and also feel the upcoming Valentine's Day love at the same time!

How?  Why?  Because this was my wife's idea for content!

Happy Valentine's Day and Friday!

I have already published two "Artistic Content" articles and more are on the way.  I will also be publishing quite a few more articles today, as I will be busy getting a battle in tomorrow.  So, I am front-loading all the content today!

Here are the two articles available now:

Artistic Content #21: Multiple Independent Reentry Vehicles (MIRVs) - https://overwhelmingodds40k.com/artistic-content-21-multiple-independent-reentry-vehicles-mirvs/

Artistic Content #22: Mirrored bases - https://overwhelmingodds40k.com/artistic-content-22-mirrored-bases/

Next, I will be showing what can be accomplished to re-create rebar in concrete at miniature scale.  It will blow your mind with how it looks and how easy it is to do!

Here is another "Artistic Content" article focusing on making photo-realistic rebar lattices within concrete (foam) at the miniature scale.

This turned out incredible and you have to at least check it out for the modeling opportunities this concept provides.  You want this in your back pocket!

More articles incoming shortly!

The Galvanic Servohaler model is amazing, but it could be so much more.  It has a lot of potential.  Come see how I unlocked that potential and made it functional.

That is right, my crane actually works!

Only cost $4.00 in supplies.  This a simple conversion I recommend that everyone makes!

I have had so many projects going concurrently, that I am finally getting a chance to document and share them!

Two more "Artistic Content" articles have been published.

Artistic Content #25: Scratch-built Rails: https://overwhelmingodds40k.com/artistic-content-25-scratch-built-rails/

Artistic Content #26: Free (after buying Forgeworld Models) Concrete Barricades, Backstops, and More: https://overwhelmingodds40k.com/artistic-content-26-free-after-buying-forgeworld-models-concrete-barricades-backstops-and-more/

I will have at least one more "Artistic Content" article published soon today.  I am trying to get caught up because there is so much more to detail and lot more incoming projects.  No rest for the wicked.

Don't forget to leave a "quote" suggestion for my ICBM.  I will be choosing one (maybe more) for inclusion on my Exterminatus missile. So far we have:

"From Cadia, with Love"

"Emperor's Mercy"

Lastly, I am currently running a poll to allow the readers to vote on what kinds of weapons are being manufactured at my arctic facility.  Come cast your vote now to steer the direction of my arctic battlefield build. Voting ends next Friday.

Vote here: https://overwhelmingodds40k.com/cast-your-vote-and-guide-my-arctic-weapons-facility-build/

The choices are:

  • Chemical/Biological Weapon (Virus Bomb - quickly spreads & destroys all organic cellular structures)
  • Weaponized Nanotechnology (Deconstructor Nanobots - strip atoms from a target on a molecular level)
  • Thermonuclear Weapon (Nukes - detonation powerful enough to crack a planet's crust and destabilize its core)
  • Incendiary Weapon (Atmospheric Incinerator Torpedo - turn the atmosphere into a firestorm)
  • Void/Vortex Weapon (opens an uncontrolled "hole" in real-space, which utterly annihilates everything)

I have so much going on that I am going to need a secretary!

Dan

Happy Saturday!

I published another "Artistic Content" article, this time dealing with two types of spray foam and what you can accomplish with them.

Foam Filled Fun, here: https://overwhelmingodds40k.com/artistic-content-27-expanding-foam-spray-terrain/

Don't forget to read my past posts over the last few days, as there has been a lot going on.

There is an opportunity to vote for the weapon type being developed, manufactured, and employed at my arctic battlefield.

There is an opportunity to suggest an "inscription" on/for my Exterminatus missile.

Also, while I was creating this foam terrain content, I realized it would be an amazing idea to cover "craters" and all the aspects you should think about when making them yourself.  Every crater tells a story and I want to share my experience with "Battle Damage Assessment" (BDA) and weapon impact simulations to show you how you can tell a story with your craters.  Expect that soon!

Dan

If you're using like three or four inscriptions, I recommend an Imperial Thought for the Day, or other similar dogma, assuming it's an Imperium weapons plant. Either something generic like "Burn the Heretic" or something longer/more complex. There's a set of pages on Lexicanum with Imperial Thoughts for the Day catalogued if you wanna pick something.

Thank you so much for this idea.  I am going to use it for something else.  You got me thinking about displaying a LOT of these "Imperial Thoughts for the Day", and I knew immediately how to accomplish it!

LED scrolling name tags.  They would make PERFECT scale billboards and I can program them with different sayings and have them scrolling during the battle.  Great suggestions can lead to real innovation, so thank you once again.  If you had not mentioned this, I would never have had this idea!

Imperial motivation and propaganda for all!

Check out the review videos for the capabilities of these LED name badges.  Tons of potential.

I've seen those before at, like, Dayton Hamvention. People like to walk around with blinking LED name tags of their callsign, it's neat. I could definitely see the Imperium putting one of those up somewhere.
