Dark Angel specific rule question.

Here you go Eternal!

INFANTRY, BIKER and DREADNOUGHT units

(other than SERVITOR units) in Dark Angels Detachments and Dark Angels successor Chapter Detachments also gain the Grim

Resolve ability

GRIM RESOLVE

The stalwart descendants of the Lion are

renowned for their unshakeable resolve, enduring tenacity and strict fire discipline

in battle. You can re-roll all hit rolls of 1 for this unit whenever it shoots (including when firing Overwatch) so long as it did not move in its prior Movement phase. In addition, this unit can never lose more than

one model as the result of any single failed Morale test.

Hope that helps!

Happy new year!

So no vehicles... damn. Thank you! I hope they address this when we get the bump in a week or so.

Probably not unfortunately.

Fingers crossed. Character reroll bubbles work on vehicles though I believe, though not Azraels inv save .

Yes, you can also get that with a Dread and the strat' Wisdom of the Ancient (bubble 6'' reroll 1 to hit).

azreal 4++ bubbling predators would get a bit nutty, or like land raider

The index days prior to our codex. We had almost 6 months of 4++ razorback spam with rerolls to hit. Back in the days we actually won quite a few tournaments or at least got to the very top tables. Oh how the mighty have fallen...

I think you will be proven wrong with this. They said we are to be given treatment similar to what the Blood Angels got, so that we are brough on par with marines. Marines now (and blood angels too, as far as I know) get chapter tactics on their vehicles.

So I fully expect Grim Resolve in its coming iteration to be working on razorbacks, land raiders, predators, whirlwinds, dark talons, nephilim jet fighters and so on.

Yeah, Blood Angels vehicles now get +1 to their wound roll if they charged, were charged or heroically intervened. They also now get +1 to their Advance / Charge roll. Thus we should expect Grim Resolve to apply to all vehicles, and also receive an additional chapter trait.

I would gladly be wrong then, looking forward to this :)

I'm hoping that we get something a bit more than just Grim Resolve applied to vehicles that can never make use of it.

In order for Grim Resolve to work in its current state on a Nephilim the Nephilim would have to remain stationary!

But a Nephilim has a minimum move of 20 inches.

They would have to either change how Grim Resolve affects Ravenwing units or they would have to add a few words to a rule regarding the Ravenwing Keyword.

As for the Morale part of Grim Resolve, the only unit I believe that could benefit from it that doesn't already have it are Land Speeders.

And while it would be a nice benefit, it isn't going to have that much of an impact.

Land Speeders have a LD 7 and a RW squad size is up to 5.

Grim Resolve limits morale to only removing a single model.

So the only time that Grim Resolve could have an impact is if you have a unit of 5 speeders, and lost 3 of them this turn.

But that would require your opponent to have caused more than enough woulds to kill 3 speeders (13 to 18 wounds vs T5).

You would then have to fail enough saves on those speeders (13 to 18 3+ saves).

Next you would have to roll a 5 or 6 for morale.

And finally you would use ATSKNF to re-roll morale hoping for a 4 or less and roll a 6.

You would then lose 2 models to morale, and if Grim Resolve applied that would be knocked down to 1 model lost.

Where Grim Resolve is effective is when you have max-sized squads. However, it’s never really been efficient to take max-sized squads, and so you don’t get much benefit.

However, I’m hoping that we’ll get some good stratagem support which makes it efficient to take a 10-man squads, and hence get most benefit from losing max 1 to morale.

I hope they just rework the Ravenwing special rule, I believe currently if they advance they get a 4++, just improve that and don't worry about trying to get Ravenwing units to take advantage of Grim Resolve. For example, give them Speed of the Raven as default, not on a stratagem.

I run stalker bolt rifles and heavy hellblasters so it’s pretty neat at the moment. I’m just excited for new goodies and new books to go along with it.

If we get a way to have damage 4 Plasma, Hellblasters will be very, very good for us.
