How do we feel about Abaddon as Warmaster of Chaos?

Recommended Posts

Except it’s long been part of Abaddons background that he has the support of all the Daemon Primarchs. Not that they’re subservient, but they’re definitely allied, with Abaddon holding the upper hand.

Yeah, but those pacts seem to have been made when they were just sitting back not doing anything directly, personally or from the front lines. Old agreements can easily be dissolved/ modified Darth Vader style like with Lando in SW. Abaddon needs some wrench in his ambitions and a dented ego, returning demon primachs are the narrative answer to this. Its one thing for Abaddon to strong arm a chaos lord, a primarch is a different story.

He already has a wrench in his plans, it’s called Guilliman and the Indomitus Crusade. He literally has strong-armed the Primarchs, with Khayon apparently binding Magnus, or at the very least forcing him to kneel and swear allegiance.

It’s far more likely that the daemon primarchs recent activity is at Abaddons request, rather than spending so much time building up the references to their allegiance to Abaddon only to go “lol nope they totally betray him lulz”.

Just remember, the daemon primarchs are slaves to their patron, and the Chaos Gods want Abaddon to swear himself to only them so, so badly. If Tzeentch directly intervened when Magnus was going to kill Ahriman, what do you think he’d do to Magnus if he tried to do anything to the Warmaster?

The Daemon Primarchs really don't care about any big goals like defeating the imperium or such. They tried 10k years ago and are done with this whole thing. All they care about are personal grudges and ambitions. Like killing Guilliman whether he'd be leading the Imperium or not. Or ascending humanity into a fully psychic race in case of Magnus.

The only big name that still really cares about defeating the Imperium is Abaddon. When the Daemon Primarchs help Abaddon it's always because it also furthers their own goals too, even if it just means weakening or distracting the forces of the Imperium.

I think Angron still wants to destroy the Imperium for multiple reasons, but he keeps being stopped at great cost to the Imperium. So does Perturabo as the Iron Warriors are fully mobilizing for an all-out offensive outside of the 13th Black Crusade. Lorgar too if it weren't for the Narek and Corax fiascos

It is implied that the Emperor's Children are more numerous today than during the Heresy, just like the Death Guard and Black Legion. They are more committed to the 13th Black Crusade than the Word Bearers as one WB wonders the purpose of his Legion now that the others are doing the Dark Gods' proclamations with greater devotion

(Kinda fits since the EC participated more at the Solar War/Siege of Terra than the WB)
