Right chaps, chapesses and assorted plague things.

I have a game tomorrow vs Imperial Fists. In addition to this list I will have Mortarion.

I know his list will be regular astartes supported by a Fell Blade

How best to use it. The palequin sorcerer is to Warptime Mortarion

The plan is to head straight for the enemy lines full bore and get stuck in.

The land raider is for anti tank support as apart from the melts on the blight hawlers I have very little ranged anti tank.
Plus its a distraction. My friend and I are rather old school, traditionally that land raider should be full of terminators. It won't be but he will think it might be.

Not sure if I should leave a squad on foot or put all the squads in the transports

That + Mortarion if I understood you right. You have a lot of vehicles there. Vehicles just die vs. IF. I would go as Infantry heavy as I could. Maybe replace Prescience for Miasma of Pestilence to protect Morty (I assume the Deathshrouds will be near him after deployment). Split the Blight Haulers into 3 times 1 model, so multiple hits are wasted. (Yes I know the hit less good that way, but you will lose at least one model round 1 anyway, because of IF). Give each Footslogger Squad a Hauler as protection, that keeps you flexible.

Plague Marine Squads: Nr. 1 is allright with 7 guys and three expensive ones. Nr. 2 could you split that Squad into 2 x 5 guys? Could be helpful for holding purposes (Its hard for me to read battlescribe) So two times 5 guys with Flail and Blight Launcher + cheap Champ. Nr.3 Thats too many eggs in one basket, as you have no fodder guys here. At least put them into a Rhino, better remove some of the weapon options for Bolter or Knife guys.

Terminators: I do not think the Flail guy keeps his other weapons.

Okay so I went with the above list l. And I did okay - not that the final score showed that. We use the card missions plus first blood, slay the warlord, heavy support worth a VP if slain and something about holding objectives at the end of the game.

So turns 1 and 2 went quite well I advanced on the Fists and the raider and fart karts chewed away at the fell blade taking it past its first damage reduction. Oh the blight hawlers were marvellous the way they weathered the incoming fire. They even survived several bursts from the quad lascannons 😁

Turn 2 tho someethings kinda started to go wrong and set up my later defeat . Mortarion failed an easy charge and was the only psyker to successfully cast any buffs (just as well cos he was stood like a lemon in front of rather a lot of marines)
He was knocked past his reduction point and the Deathshrouds all died
In the opposite corner the 2 surviving terminators proceeded to mulch a stern guard and tactical squad. Flails are awesome

Turn 3 morti dices an entire tactical squad. Some of the fart cart die under the weight of incoming fire
My cleaver armed squad disembark the land raider to prep for the approaching iron clad dreadnought (who charged the land raider and just fluffed it)

Turn 4 Mortarion died after killing his warlord made a rather silly tactical error and tried eviscorating strike on the captain, chaplain and lieutenant who charged morti. He only killed the captain and then got stuffed over by the chaplain.

The plague cleavers charge the ironclad and fluff it getting pounded to paste by the seismic hammers

Entertainingly the last surviving fart cart eats a lone surviving tactical marine Sargent earning even more hatred. He dies to the combined weight of fire of 1 quad Las, a tactical squad and a terminator squad. Not bad considering he only had 1 wound left before eating the Sargent

Turn 5 my terminators kill the last of his heavy weapon squads but died to incoming fire.
A Plague marine squad attempt to remove the chaplain and lieutenant with a combination of Bolter and plasma fire but shockingly only kill the chaplain and are all murdered in hand to hand by the lieutenant
The final squad of plague marines and their rhino are gunned down and the rhino explodes killing one plague marine and beautifully dropping mortal wounds on about 5 squads surrounding it.

Final scores death guard 9: imperial fists 15 (then you had the 3 objectives a three points a piece that he controlled at the end of the game)

Lessons learnt.

Support support support- should have advanced a rhino to keep at least one plague marine squad closer to Mortarion. They could have taken some of the heat then.

Aura effects are good and death guard need all the back up. I had one poor turn of psychic buffs and that was it. Need more reliable support.

Sything blow is more than enough for a marine regardless of rank

Fart karts are awesome.

Honestly I'm not sure what changes I could make. Everything had a use. The land raider weather shots like a boss and it and the blight hawlers were the only things that could hurt the fellblade

So that list isn't right. "For every five models in the unit, one Blightlord Terminator may replace their combi-bolter and bubotic axe, or combi-bolter and balesword, with a flail of corruption". So you don't pay the 7pts for those, you're termies should only cost 257pts. I never use battlescribe.

Fighting the space marine supplements as pure DG right now is no fun for me. Do you find it beneficial to run swords and fists on the PM Champs? I find unless the group is pure melee and I'm trying to get them into combat, they never make contact and are wasted points. My Meta is almost all ranged and no melee. I find keeping the groups cheap and taking more groups is better. 100pts for 5 guys with 2 blight launchers is the best anti Primaris I've found for myself.

Im glad to hear your haulers had success. At 102pts now that puts them in helbrute cost territory and I would think the invlun and DR make up for the worse BS. You should take a pic or two next time! I love seeing DG on a table.

In the end we used power levels. Those were the units I wanted to take.

Only changes was that the Blightlord was correctly armed on the table and I had an extra icon bearer when I realised I was a Plague marine short in one squad.

As we used power levels it didn't really mater that the champions were armed as per the box (sword, fist and plasma) but I never used the swords. The powerfists were more useful against armoured targets.

Honestly I think most kills were in combat. We are more melee than people think. Flails are one of the best weapons in the game. Blightlord flail and champion accounted for about 20 models in combat by themselves. Mortarion only killed 11 (wounded a few others in addition to this with his Host of Plagues and nurgles rot stat)

I have a couple of pictures but nowhere to host them
