Death to the False Emperor and Other New Night Lords Tricks

Faith & Fury has been out for a while, so I wanted to share a couple things and see what new tricks others have found useful for Night Lords.

It seems that Night Lords are the best way to improve your chances of triggering Death to the False Emperor. I think it appropriate, considering it was said to be Sevetar who first made the proclamation. All Night Lords can use Prescience and Prey on the Weak for a pretty reliable +2 to hit in melee which would bump a natural 4+ roll into triggering DttFE. Infantry can make use of From the Night if they are on/in terrain, potentially bumping them up to a natural 3+ triggering DttFE. If you can make them Slaanesh and give icons, throw on an Icon of Excess to trigger it on a natural 2+. Finally, Lord Discordants have an aura that gives +1 to hit to <LEGION> Daemon Engines (though he seems to be the only one with DttFE), meaning with Prey on the Weak, Prescience, and his own aura, he will trigger it on a natural 3+.

Normally the issue with stacking things like this is how many moving parts are involved, but in this case, the only thing that may require a seperate unit from what you are trying to enhance is Prescience. From the Night is the only other iffy item, in that you need to be on/in terrain at the start of the charge. All together, one psyker isn't that much trouble to dedicate to a squad or to deepstrike to support squads as needed, though the terrain might be troublesome.

I've had some decent success in amping up my hit rolls, and DttFE as a result, with my Night Lords DP, but it seems like other units might prove able to make better use. I was thinking NL Jump Lord with the Nurgle fist or Thunderhammer would be a good one, pretty reliable +2 to hit with a possible +3 if he charges from or is already in terrain, 7/9 attacks will generate an extra after re-rolling 1s. This means that you almost double your damage output for 2CP and a psychic power. When I did the math, th his means with the Nurgle fist and the extra attacks warlord trait, with average rolls, you should be able to just barely kill most Knights in 1 round.

The others that looked promising are Berzerkers and Slaaneshi Possessed. Berzerkers can get bumped up the same way the Lord can. Combined with the fact that they fight twice DttFE will on average increase their attack count by 4/3 of what they would get from 1 round of fighting (2/3 for each time they fight) before any character re-roll abilities. Even if you don't get From the Night, you still get an average attack increase of 100% (50% for each time they fight). Then, when we move on to Posessed, or any Slaanesh unit that can take icons) we can actually put them in a position to generate extra attacks on a 2+, meaning every attack that hits will generate another. Melee chosen or Raptors with a Champion with Fist/Hammer might do well with this too.

Death to the False Emperor is, of course, only an option against Imperium. That said, the only one of these buffs that you need to commit to is the Icon of Excess, everything else is optional and/or useful against all enemies.

Another new interaction I wonder if anyone has put to use is the Icon of Vengeance on something shooty, like Havocs, for the +1Ld, meaning they can use Prey on the Weak at range against Marines. Pair with a lord/prince and hit on 2+, re-rolling 1s.
