Shadow and Iron supplement discussion

Well given that the laserblaster was a typo I don't think they're going to change it until they need to sell more Warlords (see: GW FAQ cycle).

Got my book but I have to wait to read it, I still don't want a Warbringer but I can't wait to dig into the psi-titan!

A friend who grabbed a copy told me that there's direct mention of the Rapier Scout Titan, and if I'm not mistaken the last time we got specific mention of a Titan/Knight class not already in the range (the Acastus), it wasn't much of a wait till the mini was revealed

Wouldn't surprise me if it has a model by the end of the year, although with it being the first one without a 28mm equivalent already in existence I'd be curious about whether they would try and design a larger-scale version at the same time

Just read through the psi-titan entry, they definitely leave the door open for other classes which surprises me given how the Warlord was set up in the "Ordo Sinister" story.  I find it hard to believe a Warhound, for instance, has the internal room for psyker coffins and the feed mechanism to hook them up.  :ermm:

My plan is to have a plasma, quake, carapace gatlings, and a fist ready for mine as I build it to quickly (by my standard of "quickly" ) get it primed and ready for playing.  We'll see how the new gun handles, this is really exciting as I've wanted to proxy a psi-titan since reading the story.

I also just noticed the yellow/black hazard stripe door on the studio psi-titan, that's a cool little touch.

The Rapier has been around in fluff for a while as a one gun scout titan, since the titan death novel at least, still hoping its the q2 release though :)

Psi titan wise I suspect they may work differently at different scales, like a warhounds might just have a prescient princeps to dodge more for example ;)

Definitely the first time it's been mentioned in a FW/Specialist Games text though - I wonder if it'll be the lightest Titan class, equipped with a single Warhound-calibre gun or whether it'll carry something equivalent to a Reaver arm weapon, both would be interesting options. One of the FW Heresy books mentions Fureans fielding a 'Reviler' Titan which is pretty much a mobile inferno cannon platform, so this could be a nice shoe-in if it has a Warhound gun, explaining that the Reviler's a local sub-pattern. On the other hand, I love the idea of a light Titan wandering around with a single Reaver weapon, an opportunistic volcano cannon sniper or a gatling blaster shield stripper seem super fun.

Visual-wise, I'm imagining something with the weapon pretty much built into the Titan's main hull a bit like an assault gun on legs, with an offset cannon to accommodate a lopsided head, perhaps giving its gun a corridor fire arc but with high manoeuvrability so it can make plenty of turns. Also wonder if it'll follow in the footsteps of the more recently-designed Titans with point defence weaponry, having at least a single ardex-defensor turret makes sense.

/end of rampant speculation :happy.:

If you're talking in terms of a narrative/action scene yes, but otherwise no; Rapiers have been listed in numerous black books (as well as other classes, e.g. Nightgaunts, "Deathbringer Warlords", etc) so this really isn't anything new. I'm sure Rapiers are on the horizon but I wouldn't leap to any conclusions from S&I

Need a MAC2 Monster from Robotech - something with 4 quake cannons on its roof.

I'm really liking this book, it's nice but I wish there was more for knights and I'm undecided on my mix of ursas claws/lances.

I've actually been systematically combing through a friends' copies of all the Black Books and Rapier Titans have never been mentioned - the weapons platforms come up a lot as you'd expect but the Titan's never been in them before, although the following have been mentioned:

Apocalypse, Nightgaunt, Carnivore, Reviler, Deathbringer, Maines, Warmonger, Mirage, Komodo

No, it's missing. I think they mentioned it off-hand in last Thursday's stream and it probably does exactly what you'd expect (bypass voids), but we'll need an faq for clarity :sad.:

How did they manage that feat? Lack of proof-reading?

I mean the last two Psychic Awakening books were missing points costs for the new character models sooooooooooooooo yes.

Yeah, essentially. Maybe they’re just running tight production deadlines? We don’t know what amount of time is allotted to creators. I’d point to the repetitive maniple art in S&I as another example where it felt like they ran out of time or allotted budget for more art to be finished.

I think what’s also relevant about the Rapier mentions in both BL and this is that is speaks to a firm-ish Titan concept, one that is smaller and faster than a warhound.

That’s minimal detail but for some of those other mysterious classes there’s even more ambiguity, which is partially down the the age of some of the black books. The earlier mentions of Nemesis titans make them seem like they're some sort of warlord or higher class of ultra powerful titan rather than the particular designation for a titan variant (Nemesis Warbringer, potentially Nemesis Warhound, etc) we have it as now.

Besides that it does seem to be hinted at with a bit more intentionality than some others.

Curiosity question about the nemesis warbringer: is its mobility better than a warlord? It feels counterintuitive due to its design as an artillery titan, but if rules wise its weapons are direct fire, I wonder if it could be possible to use it as a more mobile belicosa or quake cannon platform?

Yes, it has 5"/7" of movement with 2/3 turns.

Curious PSA regarding Titan Hunter Infantry stratagem's intention:

Having read through S&I, there was once again a funnily secluded correction in the rules for narrative missions. Much debate was had whether THI tokens were always just two bits you redeployed or if you could pump the board full of them. Now, on page 71 of S&I in the Battle of Aquila Atoll is written:

"...[mission details about marker placement]. However, THI markers are not removed after they fire like normal, instead staying upon the battlefield until they are destroyed."

So normally, no, you only get two fire teams at a time. You may now sleep peacefully.
