Anyone have experience with Las-fusil Eliminators?

Fraters,

I bought two boxes of the multi-part ones (as opposed to the monopose Shadowspear ones) specifically for the option to use las-fusils, but they took so long to come in, I've had time to second-guess myself.

It seems the sniper rifles, especially in mass, are--generally speaking--a bit more strategically useful due to the ability to efficiently nuke characters and thus gimp your opponent at the strategic level. Las fusils, in comparison, can best case scenario do 9 wounds to a target of choice, realistically 6 wounds since your Sgt is probably buffing the other two.

My original interest was of the "infiltrating lascannons (more or less)? Yes please!", especially when in concert with other forms of lascannons. The 36" thunder hammer seemed quite good, especially when you could start them almost anywhere you want.

As with many things, I'm sure some chapters (IH, IF, RG) get more mileage out of them than others, but I'm looking to get people's experiences overall, most especially if you play a chapter that does not have an obvious buff for them (I'd be using them in a BA context).

Thanks!

They will not be your only anti-tank, but paired with some Hellblasters they do work.

Use them to soften a target, or finish it.

I'm parking 2 squads around a Phobos Cpt. as soon as the second set arrives. He buffs to hit with his warlord trait, getting up a sarg.

I’ve been toying with having them near a “shoot and fade” Phobos captain and a “target priority” Phobos Lt... and master craft the sergeants lasfusil (as an imperial fist bring damage 5 against vehicles

That's what the "Shoot and Fade" warlord trait does.

Okay, but it kind of seems limited (to one Phobos unit) and a one time only thing since if it does, it must Advance and cannot declare a charge in the following Charge phase. Just seems like there are many other WT that are more useful.

They shoot before they advance and run out of LOS so the advance has zero impact on the shooting phase

The next turn they step out to get LOS and repeat the pattern

I actually used 2 squads backed by a devastator squad the other day in a 2k game with my templars, because of their ability to deploy anywhere they actually came in quite handy as I put both of them in hard to reach areas with good fov.

Also LPT, the box comes with enough arms to make 9 eliminators (technically 10 with an instigator bolt carbine thrown in) with minimal kitbashing you can use reivers to fill in as bodies and get 3 whole squads out of a single box!

Great tip.

I simply converted mine so that they'd have both weapons all the time, and I just pick and choose before the battle (or event, if I'm going to a tournament). I do still have three rifle arm sets though, so Marshal's suggestion may go to use...

Yeah I believe your right. What’s good for the Demon Prince in good for the Eliminator I guess lol

Too bad though I just really like the model and could see playing a dedicated 1000 point sniper army. Not a fan of Scout models even if their Sniper isn’t the worst looking of the bunch.

Is that 3 las-fusils and 6 bolt rifles?

Yup, the box has 6 rifles (although one is admittedly slung on a backpack) 3 fusils, and 1 instigator carbine. It also has 10 heads so the only thing you'd really need to add is a cloak to reivers

So just add two 3x ETB reivers sets and 3 extended barrel silencers , and that'll be 3x fusils and 6 snipers? That's awesome, totally a cheaper way thank you.

I really like the sound of this. Going to head to my local GW, get some green stuff (for the cloaks) and some ETB Reivers in asap.

Do you have any pics of your completed guys? Just looking for some more inspiration.

Haven't painted them yet but I'm confident that they will look good and the conversion work for the arms was not as intensive as you'd think (I think I only had to chop up 2 reiver arms to get them to fit)
