Deep Strike Denial and Grav Chute Insertion

I played against a space marines player last week and he made a claim I've never heard before:

Can a deep strike denial unit, like infiltrators 12" denial bubble, prevent units embarked on a Valkyrie from deploying within 9"?

It didn't make sense to me, but I let it pass as it wasnt a competitive game and I think scions deep strike is called grab chute insertion. But now I need to know as it will impact my drop force build.

No, that will not stop them from getting out of a valkyrie anymore than it would stop marines from getting out of a rhino or guardsmen from ditching their chimera. Disembarking is not coming in from reserves so the infiltrator ability has no bearing on it.

No faq needed. It is simply a disembark. Nothing more, nothing less.

He will probably try to argue that they are appearing on the board and that's what stops them from getting out within 12". But their rules are specifically from reserves and models in transports count as being on the table already.

Ya... since they aren't coming from reserves its a pretty clear cut rule.... maybe he was thinking the valk acts like the necrons flyer transport, which does bring guys in from reserve?  In any case its a transport, the guys are embarked on it, and infiltrators don't stop anyone from disembarking, regardless whether you get off the valk before moving it or after moving 40".

The 'Grav-chute insertion' rule starts with 'Models may disembark...' I think that's all you need to know in this matter. Your opponent might have thought about  supressors' 'Grav-chute' ability which is in fact a deep strike. That's the GW's fault. Instread of creating "Universal special rules" like that used to be, they made piles of rules with common features.

Good reason as to why we need universal rules back in the game so you only need to look at one freaking page in the rulebook to understand what the hell GW actually intends....it's all so convoluted now. That's why situations like this come up...it's worse than 3rd-7th.
