Executioners IV Battle Co Death Speaker (1 out of 3)

Recommended Posts

One half of my Executioners army will be mostly from the basic SM Codex and use the old school 40K Compendium (showing my age) blue and grey urban camo theme, while the other half will be from the SW Dex and the more modern gun metal theme.

The basic fluff idea is that many decades into their forced 100 year penitent crusade, each of the chapters companies start to diverge from the prescribed codex in some ways at the squad level, due to consolidation and attrition and not being able to recruit. So, veterans take on the recon scout role, like space wolf scouts do. Tac squads are more specialized like grey hunters, etc. But, some habits die hard like replacing a codex dev squad with a stern guard squad of vets, 3 death speakers to a company; troops wanting to get to grips with the enemy to earn honor, trophies, close range fire fights, and so on.

Here is DeathSpeaker Skol in all his glory:

Either a mini vox caster in there so he can shout his hate to the enemy, or always thought when I modeled it that it was purposefully and permanently crafted in a rictus type grim grin! The last thing a heretic or enemy of the Emperor would see is a full smiling face of death.

Chaplain Skol the breather of fire! (I like it!)

But in all seriousness, thanks for the kind words.

When I modeled it gave it a creepy feel to use that bit, so I stick with it despite it not being a perfect helm or additional GS to make it have more of a typical vox grill.

Pics to follow next of DeathSpeaker #2 of the IV Co.

Bjorn, that was the idea behind the tally marks, record of memorable or important kills over enemy champions/monsters. I also like the idea that in their galaxy spanning penitent crusade that on some far off distant battlefield they came across the remains of an old Rhino wreck to badly damaged to be repaired, but salvaged what they could; and DeathSpeaker Skol, seeing the significance and power of a fellow sons of Dorn chapters ‘relic’ being repurposed into a storm shield by the chapter’s artificers. Intoning prayers, continuing to protect the brethren chapters troops and inspiring further legacy and what not for the crusade...

So here’s DeathSpeaker 2 out of three for the Fourth Co.

DeathSpeaker Gavriel of the IV Co.

Often seen accompanied by the Fourth battle companies VII assault squad and attached 1st Co. vanguard squad Gurion.

Gavriel can be found where the fighting is always thickest, exploiting mobility and true shock assault tactics to often turn the tide in an engagement and provide an example for all his axe brothers to follow. Strangely, unlike many of his bellicose brethren and fellow DeathSpeakers; Gavriel often remains silent in battle and offers words of encouragement and knowledge to his ilk in whispered and clipped tones. Despite this, he is a silent fury, a whirlwind of gore and destruction to all within reach in combat as he descend on deep dark blood red crimson wings. Nothing escapes his visage though as the companies 2nd DeathSpeaker and many tallies and tales are both his and those inspired by his battlefield exploits.
