Alpha Legion Primaris

Recommended Posts

Does anyone use Vanguard Space Marines to model as true scale uncorrupted Alpha Legionaries? I love their tactical aesthetic befitting the legion harrows and while I also love the spikes and skulls baroque style of Chaos I think the tacticool look fits AL better.

They would be wearing MK X power armour though. The new CSMs are also considerably larger than the old ones, but don't have the tacticool look.

I get your point though, but there's something that's not going to fit anyway.

Shouldn't the Alpha Legion have their own version of Primaris via the data they stole from the Raven Guard at Deliverance during the Heresy? Shouldn't the AL be one of the bigger Traitor Legions?

They didn't steal Primaris data though - it was cloning tech. They infected the Raven Guard's programme with a daemon virus, if I remember correctly. I can't remember if they also infected what they liberated with the virus though.

I think they stole a pure sample. However they turned it over to Horus who gave it to Bile I think. Whether the AL kept some for themselves is not clear (it would be kinda surprising if they didn't though).

Aye, canny mind the details. Might need to dig it out again.

Whether cloning or making pure geneseed it should have helped the Alpha Legion bolster their numbers to outnumber the Loyalists and other Traitors by 20-1 by M32

Granted it doesn't matter since the AL are the most fragmented Legion. Still each warband has killed billions or trillions and has crippled the Imperium a thousand times over

It is a good thing Omegon doesn't lead the Legion. Even if he rallied just a small portion it is more than enough to wipe out the Sons of Dorn and the Custodes

Frankly AL lore is thin on the ground enough that you can't even say if they're fragmented or not. The only novel to actually go into detail (Sons of the Hydra) had central organization of a sort, and there are references to "legion high command" which may or may not be related.

Each warband has killed billions/trillions? Hell, given there's thousands of Alpha Legion warbands out there, guess that makes it gg guys, Chaos has already won, every planet left under Imperial control are obviously just AL plants. If what you've said is true, then they don't need to have Omegon to wipe out the Sons of Dorn and Custodes, as the Imperium is already a smoking ruin after each and every warband has crippled it a thousand times over each. Why even bother with the Black Crusades, just send out a warband of 30-40 Alpha Legion and watch them cripple the Imperium again.

...Which is why what you've said isn't true, but pure and unadulterated fanboy hype. Please man, tone it down. I know you only get your information from TvTropes and assorted wikis, but that's just horribly, horribly wrong.

FW's Horus Heresy Book 3: Extermination seems to hint towards it: "As the war of the Horus Heresy raged on, the Legion demonstrated an enviable ability to replace its battlefield losses. While the war continued and many Legions saw their strength shorn away, the Alpha Legion appeared to grow stronger throughout the conflict, despite several seemingly serious defeats. Much like the hydra of myth, where one head was cut from the Legion's body, two more appeared to grow in its place." (p.91)

But even if they managed to bolster their numbers like that, we have yet to see how it played out in the long run.
