Hi everyone,

 

I posted a thread in the general forum about an idea I'm working on for an Inquisition project.

This is my current idea for a list.

The idea is to advance behind two buffed up fearless blobs of conscripts that take up most of the space on the board by double moving. Then make the acolytes untargetable with the psychic veil power of the ordo Xenos and let loose with the plasma, some buffed up by a Jokaero.

Keep firing plasma for a turn, and when the conscripts are dead the melee acolytes jump in to get themselves kicked to death after they hit something with chainswords.

The knights rush up on a flank to attract firepower and curb stomp everything they run into, scions teleport in to grab objectives and fire even more plasma.

I think it might be a lot of fun to play, and the sheer amount of plasma coupled with the knights might make this list capable of dealing with some semi serious lists.

I don't plan on winning ITC events with this, just having a good old time with my friends who bring tough, but fair lists. This list is probably best going first, but it might still work going second if I can hide the acolytes out of LOS and use prepared positions and the take "take cover" strat.

Any feedback that can help to make the list work beter without breaking the ordo machinum inquisition army theme will be appreciated.

Sadly, the first issue is that your army is illegal. Acolytes are elite, so you can have 3 squads.

Before you use another inquisitor, remember that we’re (for some God awful reason) restricted to one per detachment.

Thanks for the reminder. I plan on running 3 detachments of which two are fixed and one is flexible.

One inquisition detachment and one guard will be the fixed ones. The last one will be knights most of the time, but in friendly casual games could be greyknights when facing demons and in the future deathwatch when facing Xenos or sisters when facing heretics! (I am currently slowly building both a sisters detachment and deathwatch detachment)

One inquisitor will obviously be in the Inquisition detachment, the other could win the AM detachment. It seems like fun, but I haven't convinced myself I want to run two inquisitors in my custom fluff. 

It would be very easy to swap the two melee acolyte squads for two Jokaero and a barebones inquisitor.

It is a good thing you haven't convinced yourself that you want to run two inquisitors since (again, grrr at the rules) you can't put an inquisitor in a non-inquisition detachment if you also have an inquisition detachment.

 

For example, if you have...

* Inquisition Vanguard

* Astra Militarum Battalion

* Grey Knight Battalion

...then you can only have one inquisitor, in the inquisition detachment.

 

It's silly but apparently Space Marine forces can field all of the chapter's captains at the same time (3 terminator, 3 phobos, 3 standard, 3 gravis, 3 primaris when a chapter only has 10) but inquisitors really, really work hard to avoid being in the same place at the same time.

The new skiitarii horses have sparked my interest. Thematically I could kitbash some ordo machinum rough riders and either kit them out with spears to acommodate for my loss of CC acolytes, or kit them out with plasma fir some added plasma spam.

Yes, I can't seem to get my head around fixing the list without loosing the thematic aspect. Maybe I'll just throw in a scions command squad and call it a day. But I'd rather find a new unit.
