9th Iotan Gorgonnes relic can't be used

I would like to use the blessed boltgun relic from the Gorgonnes docrine on a tempestor prime (auxiliary detachment and then deployment via stratagem to snipe a character).

The problem is that this relic can be equipped only on models with boltguns, but a tempestor prime can't have a boltgun.

Maybe they intended bolt pistols (that would explain the range)?

let me know what you think

War Angel Bolt pistol is also a bolt weapon

The rule says "boltgun" and not "bolt weapon" unfortunatelly :sad.:

definitely sounds like a question for the GW faq email

Thx, I'll write to them right now with some extra questions XD

Phubar

Considering the weapon's profile and the fact that MT cant have bolters i would take this relic in place of a bolt pistol without fear.

I think that any wise opponent would agree too.

In the end of the day I did it with the bolt pistol in a friendly game and killed a neurothrope (I was really lucky). Interesting option for sure, but I'll need to try it in a more "competitive" scenario.

RAI or not they need to FAQ it anyway, just to be clear.

I thought that relic was odd when I read the profile...its RAW also suggests there is a typo in the boltgun bit and they intended it to say boltpistol.

I always thought it was weird that Sions cant have bolters yet standard sergeants in infantry squads can.

to be fair tempestor primes are kind of trash if you compare them to a company comander. Sure you have armor 4+ (useless in a lot of situations on a t3 profile) and deep strike, but it loses the 5+ invul (why?) and has one less order. if you want to give 1 extra order you have to pay 5pt, but you lose your range option.

Oh yes and you can give orders to tempestus scions only. Idk, it's a bad thought model IMO

40pts for a deepstriking CC, with the unique order and the ability to take a bonus warlord trait. Seems pretty good. Plus some of those warlord traits are nice. 1cp for an ignore cover ability isn't bad. Sure, not having a gun kind of sucks, but it isn't the end of the world. Edited by Trickstick

Ignoring cover Is really situational( especially if you are vehicle hunting). Maybe against eliminators or something like that could be interesting, but we'll see.

I was talking more about pre greater good, now they are a little bit better for sure (at least they can make their support role decently now). The lack of inv save (the relic doesn't count) still bothers me anyway XD
