Forge World Friday: Interemptors!

I feel like they're somehow unfinished ruleswise. No artificer for sergeant, no rhino, no hardened armour. Price and guns are very ok, also it's nice that missle launcher has all the options unlike destroyers one +stasis are here to stay. Lack of rhino hurts a lot though (no orbital assault for example). Agree. Someone asked the FW Facebook admins these questions and FW responded they would send these questions to the studio team. It looks like they didn't learn their lessons from the Cenobium rules debacle.

I don't think its a mistake. I also don't think the Cenobium thing was a mistake either. We are operating from only a slice of the picture, and they are not.

On the topic of special units, Dark Angels have the Interemptors, the Cenobium, and should have one more that hasn't been reveal yet. We've got one from the Dreadwing and one from the Inner Circle/Elite, so I imagine the final special unit will either be some kind of scout squad because they made the Firewing into Khenatai/Falcon's Talons/Mor Deythan types, or a special Ravenwing speeder will all types of relic weapons.

Trying to weigh up the choice between these guys and acid HBs. The latter has range, cheaper, widely available with better deployment options, but has some RNG to it. These guys have weaker shots, rng to the amount of rounds fired, but have phosphex, ignores cover, and rerolls for overwatch

How was cenobium not a mistake? They had to update the datasheet to make them function with the overwatch mechanic, and they also went and modified some of their Orders to have a better reason to be taken, character special rule to the unit and digital weapon upgrade to the leader. Its not like it was a preview from warcom and there was more to see after the full release; it was their datasheet available with the preorder.

The biggest problem with the plasma unit (big caveat of before the unknown rites of war and dreadwing stuff and all that) is that a full 10 man plasma support is only 15 more points than a full interemptor. For those 15 points you then get to score, take up a less contested slot and have a much broader access to dedicated transports. The ints get stubborn, but that's useless since you never want to charge with them and your opponent never wants to charge them.

The interemptors are looking amazing, I do really like that the armor is a bit more restrained, while still being very identifiable. I think it does look a big larger than the plastic Mk III kit.

As for other unit speculation, they could do a jetbike unit using the same pattern as Sammael's jetbike, as I think that is supposed to be a relic pattern. There was also the Deathwing assault troop shown in the article announcing the Road to Thramas, so perhaps that may end up as a unit. The White Scars and Blood Angels have 3-5 unique kits each, so I would think somewhere in there is the extent of unique units for Dark Angels. I would think only one or two more unique units.

Based on the other recent Legions, there's still two unique units left, and unless something has changed since last year, one will be the Terran automata they talked about at WHFest and the Weekender. Edited by Darkwrath121

Because they would know if another edition or rules change getting rid of overwatch not being applicable to Cataphractii are coming. Also I don’t think the PDFs we get pre-release will be 1 for 1 for the final book. Knight Armigers and Moirax for example. Anuj is big about just getting rules out there in some form, as he explained in his interview. There’s so many things that point to a rules update in the past year I can’t help but be skeptical Anuj forgot about overwatch when he played a game with Terminators and overwatch on Warhammer tv the week before the rules came out. It looks like simple omission, thankfully quickly corrected. Can't see literally any hints for suprise new AoD edition conspiracy. Not to mention experience with GW/FW staff playing their own games tells us they very often forget about rules, even when one is an author. I remember long time ago, while reading battle reports in WD I was often confused what the hell is going on, because of illegal moves, equipment etc. Quick rulebook/army book/codex check confirmed they were playing wrong. I also remember Alessio Cavatore and Gav (whfb) admitting that even though they write the rules for x army, they are not infallible and often mess up while playing (or writing rules lol).

So I wouldn't look to much into it.

Doesn't really hold up. They released a bunch of whacky new things like the rocket bombard, but saying they have new edition on the brain past the point of understanding how the currently only rules for new units will affect units is still making a mistake. The spicula is still completely broken in terms of how they want it to work with targeting; them deleting all posts about arc of sight off of Facebook is more of an indication of lack of mechanical knowledge. The guy not remembering how cataphractii have worked for 8 years isn't a good sign.

Did they? I heard something similar a while back but can't remember/find the source.

Shame if so. I liked that idea a lot personally, very different.

Agreed! I was really looking forward to 1st Legion selenar robots, but I do also remember hearing that they were binned.

I still hold out hope that either that rumor was wrong or that they decided to bring the bots back after all. I'm honestly not sure where the negative reception may have been coming from, but I don't pay attention to their facebook page posts and obviously I don't read their e-mails, so maybe that's where the pressure was.

As long as we don't get robed Ravenwing types with plasma weaponry, I'll be happy. I'm here to see more of what the 1st Legion was at the height of their power, not "sneak previews" of their 40k incarnation that will, admittedly, probably sell very well to that existing customer base.

The team have said that they're intentionally avoiding the bathrobe style of 40k DA, which I'm happy to hear! Edited by Darkwrath121

Seeing as the N&R thread is now closed, I figured I would post some more in-detail pics here.

Please mind the tea-towel... washing resin is a messy business at times, and the parts still need to dry off. Again, most of the pics in spoiler tags to avoid splashing people's timelines too hard.

One nice thing that these models have, which the Inner Circle Knights also have some of, are a system of different shape pegs and holes which indicate which parts go together. As a side-effect, it's almost a pseudo-pin that allows for a greater glueing area.

One thing that I'm a little annoyed about, and something I consider as a backwards step, are the thickness of the shoulder pad trim - the MkIII trim is too thin and on some pads are starting to disappear. To highlight this I put these next to the MkIII DA Pads, and there's quite a difference:

I think I need to do a plog to just get all of these pictures in a single place.
