I agree with the RP potential - the Lamenters for example, unwilling to kill brother Astartes and making honourable friends amongst the Marines Errant, loyalists who were then attacked by the Mantis Warriors in a deadly ambush.

The whole Badab War is a hot mess.  There's a lot of internal conflict: Sworn to Oaths, but Sworn to Brothers.

@ Steel: You would..! (Akkad has a few people he didn't get on with, shouldn't be hard).

I just see an interesting bit of RP to it MR, a way to give another side of the same story that we get to see from Akkad in the Deathwatch game.

You know the old saying, "Truth is a three edged sword; your side, their side and what really happened."

Hmmmm in terms of class, not sure; with regards to chapter I'd prefer loyalists but can make secessionists work because Badab.

If I had to pinpoint a chapter down it would be Space Sharks = Executionners > Lamenters

Thanks for your flexibility Slips, that's great.

For the moment, I will consider the Secessionist Team complete.  I'll leave a couple of spots open for Loyalists and if we get them, then Slips, you can change horses if you'd like, we can make two teams of three work.

Kill Team: Cerberus is formed.

Please start considering your Chapter and Specialties in more depth in this thread.

So far we have:

Steel: Astral Claw Devastator

Slips: Executioners/Lamenters

Krash:

Xin: Warpsmith/Techmarine

I will soon open a Character Thread so we can dump all those lovely, heart-rending trials and tribulations into one place.  Unless anyone has any objections, I intend to follow Mol's example with a Googledocs folder and character sheets.

FYI, I'll be using the Errata for weapons etc.

Hhmmm, seeing this is going to be more DW than BC, I might consider going against tradition and look into something other than a Trchmarine, if only to starve off complacency. But I am all up for cross referencing the Magi of Angström for supporting cast shenanigans! Once I finish my Mantis Warriors for Dos event, I was going to look into those anyway. All that robot parts lying around....

Might want to try my hand at a Librarian. With a bit of foreshadowing and angsty visions of the Chapter / Maelstrom facing a terrible destiny... self fulfilling prophecy and all that. That could work with a variety of the Secessionist chapters.

Could I ask for you, oh great and terrible GM, to make rolls on the Armour mark and History tables for me?

Such reverence!  Such supplication!  How could I refuse?

I regret that could take a day or two once I stop chuckling. biggrin.png

No problem brother.  A Mantis Warriors Librarian possibly...(nods in interested sagacity).  I sense an Ahazra Redth type...

There is certainly some vibe there! Could work with doomed angel ( Lamenters) as well or a good reason for an Astral Claw to embrace the whole idea of the Tyrant's Legion. Or an Executioner seeking out the patterns of fate in the splatters of gore and entrails... though I am always a bit at a loss at portraying the "barbaric" side of things :P

Outstanding everyone, it's all coming together.

Can you all PM your email addresses (I think I have lost them from the Blackthorn communiques) and I can send you the link to a set of blank google sheets.

@ Steel, nice sense of brutality with Sevyris there, but if I may suggest a small modification?  Instead of using women and children as bait, you could perhaps say something about Civilian casualties are no concern and that the men of the Tyrant's Legion (basically the Astral Claws version of indentured Imperial Guard) are worth nothing?  Used as bait, less valuable than the lasguns they hold (etc)?

That way, when the ball gets rolling, you may have the opportunity to show instead of tell?  Makes you look worse...I do like Sevyris, in a way.  He's going to be fun ;)

Edits made MR.

Thanks, my thoughts on him was to make him the anti-Akkad or perhaps the person Akkad would've become if he stayed with the Claws rather than taking service with the Watch.

No worries, I hope it was seen more as helping hand than fiat...!

You did a good job with Sevyris. I agree, I think Akkad would have turned into him by continued brutality - although it would depend on how zealously Sev embraced the Huron-Kool Aid smile.png  Good job! thumbsup.gif

Can't wait to see what else our group comes up with...ph34r.png

I've got some plans too for extra bits and bobs, maybe some small modifications to the Requisition system, but I want to have a play with it before I stamp it all in.

I see Sev as not giving a rats ass about Huron, following Huron gives him more stuff to kill with less oversight and that's good enough for him. He's a simple beast, looking to prove that he is the strongest and the strong are strongest alone.

Awesome beans.

If anyone needs further help with their Chapter, shoot me a PM and I'll work with you on it until we're both happy.  I'm aware that Mantis Warriors, Executioners or Astral Claws to some extent lack some details.  We can thrash that out, not a problem.

@ Steel, where did you pull the stats for Autocannons from? Y'know, just in case.

Oh I will mention that I ended up going Executioners and just use the BT Rules for them; if you want me to swap them out or otherwise change it a bit I'm willing to do so.

Was along considering using Carcharodons as a basis for their rules.

Slips,

I like the thinking of using the BT stuff, but they don't really fit for me...

Go ahead and use Carcharodons for your Solo Mode and Squad Modes, calling them something suitably gruesome and decapitation related ;)  For your Primarch's Curse, please use the Imperial Fists one from RoB.

Well, if we look at Black Crusade to get an idea based on weapons that exist in both systems:

Legion Heavy Bolter:

Availability: Extreamly Rare (-30 +10 +0 test for single item common quality)

Astartes Heavy Bolter:
Requitstion cost: 20

Now keeping all that in mind, in Black Crusade, the put the M34 AC at Very Rare or a base of -20 add in the +10 for single item and +0 for common quality puts it at a -10, but for game balance reasons I'd value it at at least 20 requisition for Death Watch. This is due to it having higher hitting power against single tough targets, but not nearly as strong against hordes due in large part to lacking full auto and the explosive qualities.

That all being said, I'd still place it as more expensive than an Astartes Missile Launcher that clocks in at a paultry 10 requisition.

An excellent analysis and it matches my own conclusions, although it is a rarity in Marine forces, the Tyrant's Legion will easily allow for the plundering of their equipment stores.

If you want to start with Signature Wargear: M34 Autocannon, I agree.  The Autocannon will be 20 Req.

Be aware that you will miss out on specialist ammunition.  You will count as being issued with a backpack supply of 100 rounds.
