Walker heavy lists

Recommended Posts

Assuming you mean dreadnought yea. We’re one of the few chapters to be able to field a dread army without using a chappy dread, and have a few flavor combos as well.

Many of us have fielded an “Ancients of the Fang” list at various points in our sordid histories I’d wager.

Are they not called walkers in this edition? Yeah dreads, warsuits etc

Yea there’s no distinction for walkers as a subset of vehicles anymore. There’s honestly barely a direction for vehicles for that matter really.

We are an amazing chapter for dreadnought armies

We have a dreadnought HQ (bjorn) who kicks ass (mine has killed a knight in a single round of combat multiple times). He is the oldest dreadnought in the 40k universe and interacted with the primarchs before becoming a dreadnought

We have another HQ murderfang who tears things up in melee

The HQ part is important because the enemy can't target them with anti tank guns unless they are the closest visible target.

We have shield and axe dreads (unique to us)

We have wulfen dreads who can use wolf claws and shields (unique to us)

Basically we can go all in with dreads and have good ones...they are fun too

Yup, we are probably the best Chapter for a Dreadnought army (outside of FW options). The key units we have in our favour are (as others have summarised):

  • 2 Character Dreads (Bjorn and Murderfang)
  • Access to Blizzard Shield on both Wulfen and Venerable Dreadnoughts for the tasty 4++.
  • Wulfen Dreadnoughts have a move of 8" and can reroll failed charges making getting them into melee a lot easier.

We also have access to the new Invictor warsuit (not technically a Dreadnought but definitely akin to them). Deploy a couple close to the enemy and they make great distraction units while your heavier Dreads close the distance.

A great HQ to accompany your Dreads is an Iron Priest with the Armour of Russ relic. Not only does the armour give him a 4++ save, but he can use his 6" Heroic Intervention if your Dreads get assaulted to force the charging enemy to strike last in combat. Plus he can patch up the Dreads as they take damage and he is no slouch in combat with his Tempest hammer.
