If so, which other one do you get, and why, and who do you give it to? Just curious as to whether there is a "best practices" approach to handing out Relics. Seizeman Posted March 22, 2020 Share Posted March 22, 2020 The best two relics, by far, are the Santic shard and the Artisan nullifier matrix. I always pay the extra CP to have both and give them to my two librarians. Competitive grey knight lists are very dependant on manifesting the right powers at the right time, so the added consistency these two relics provide just beats everything else. Appart from these two, the augurium scrolls are the best damage relic, by a lot, and can be very powerful in the right circumstances, but your units are already beastly in melee, and you would have to pay 2 CP for it, so it's not worth it, as the CP are more versatile and reliable. In a smaller game, where you don't have enough points for two librarians, I'd probably pay the 1 CP and get the scrolls. With angel of death, the Saga of the Savage and that Relic upgrade to power axe is hella a beastly combo...especially on a battle leader riding a Thunderwolf with power axe and storm shield for a measly 101 pts. 5 attacks, str 5 ap -2 dmg d3, was 2+, reroll 1s to wound, +1 to hit Pop Touch of the Wild new stratagem... You're going to average 2 natty 6s to wound. This is a major combo. It would be hard to not get the Saga buff every time he fights. That buff given to other calvary is brutal. Gaz1858 Posted March 25, 2020 Share Posted March 25, 2020 Sanctic Shard is a no 1 go to as its too good not to take The Matrix is another good one and probably worth a CP From there GK actually have quite a few good relics. 5++ FnP, the Relic Stormbolter isnt bad, I like the Techmarine 2D3 heals in my list as I run a Land Raider point denial in early game, Soul Glaive is a nice weapon to. So there are plenty of options available. The +1/-1 saves me d3 mortals every turn because I’m throwing 15+ powers within range of it and I need the CP reroll for the 8 out of range powers. Sanctions Shard - Absolutely worth 1 CP and a second Libby. I personally put Warp Shaping and Empyrean Domination ( +1 CP) on him and make 100% sure they go off because fluffing those can set you back hard. Honorable Mention: Fury of Deimos, Augurium Scrolls, and Cuirass are great to have, but 2 CP is a lot for a CP starved army. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

On somewhat of a tangent, my player group are busy building up their army list for a 3K+ point game sometime after this coronavirus lockdown. They're excited to paint up their FW super-heavies in preparation for this game. One all-Primaris army has their super-heavy hover battle tank, and one Eldar player has at least 1, maybe 2 of the FW super-heavy Eldar tanks variants. While, I have plenty enough of the points, I cant bring in a Super-heavy of my own without invalidating our GK Tides buff. So...as a little compensation for the GKs, they said to take as much of the GK relics as you want. Well...there is somewhat of an awesome feeling, about having your GK army bringing all 12 GK relics into the one battle! Every single one of my infantry characters now has their very own Relic of Titan! It feels like every one is a legendary hero in the making - so cool! Cpt-Storm Posted April 14, 2020 Share Posted April 14, 2020 If I face an opponent where I know I’ll need to deal a lot of mortal wounds, the Banner of Renining Flame is an auto include for me. Recently I have played 2 matches using the Relic Sword...and more than satisfied with the results. So yes, I will usually burn an xtra CP for a 2nd relic. FWIW - I would give honorable mention to the Cuirass of Sacrifice, but I keep forgetting my character has it ! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
