I don't necessarily need my SoS to get a massive range, but I would very much like to be able to deploy them in their own. I don't have any Custodes (well, Valerian now :P) and not a huge amount of interest in them, but I have dozens of Sisters and want to be able to run small detachments of them. I don't expect a full roster... it would have to be distinct enough from SoB not to step in the toes of that new line of models. And while I usually dislike any direct comparisons between SoS and SoB (my blanks aren't nuns!), the basic "power-armoured witch-hunting women" connection means any SoS-range would have to be very different.

As for the lore...while I disagree that they've only ever been shown as operating with the Custodes, it doesn't really matter because lore follows models. Besides, the most recent lore is them accompanying the Indomitus crusade and setting up Vigils all over the place.

Wasn´t there a story/tale released at the start of PA with some eldar corsairs boarding a EC cruiser and inside they encountered a dark eldar haemonculus!?

So I am calling it my guesstimate that Agents of Bile will let you mix in coven units!

That would be very interesting!

A mix of buffed chaos space marines and coven units would be very interesting indeed.

No daemon units - just the marine element so the coven Taloi and Grotesques would replace daemon engines and possessed.

That was pretty much the angle I was trying to work into my Slaanesh army (pretty much Hellraiser/The Thing influenced) but the purist in me said it felt wrong, if they do something like this then I can sleep easy knowing there is in universe fluff and playable rules. GW would literally make me cry tears of joy with it, but I expect nothing like it so Im not let down.

So, is there any chance at all those Space Marine Heroes plaguemarines from Japan might get a wider release with the new plague company rules? Do they ever do things like that? This is desperate wishlisting, yes.

WarCom Article

This one was a little chilling. I'm disappointed they didn't clarify if it's a named chapter switching or not - but I can understand why.

I assume this is the renegade chapter that was announced to be part of WotS (the one that basically ambushes the Torchbearer fleet that shows up with their Primaris reinforcements and geneseed). If we don't get their name in the remaining WarCom articles, then we should get more background on them in the supplement itself.

I guess some chapters fall more easily to chaos than others. It was a nice little story though.

Yep the premise of the story is good re: chapter falling/going renegade. But if that's all it takes for them to fall then I'm surprised there's any left.

Spoiler

Not to be unexpected from the current standard of writing involved in PA though.

I find it quite amusing though - we once had great lore but it was never represented on the tabletop and now we have great rules that are a good representation but the lore has gone to the dogs. GW will get the balance right eventually sweat.gif

Well different chapters deal with marines having psychic abilities differently. These ones speak of it directly as the taint, so either they consider that to be something that taints them immediately (like Black Templars) or it represents something else besides just the psychic abilities (maybe the taint manifests in whispers / changes / mutations as well as an awakening of psychic abilities?). Wild speculation: since they speak of latent psychic abilities bringing in immediate censure from the High Lords, could it be that their lineage can be traced to the Thousand Sons (perhaps they are one of the chapters from one of the cursed foundings where it is rumored that some of the chapters were founded totally or partially from traitor legion geneseed that was supposedly purged of its corruption) and they know that the High Lords would immediately assume that the Flesh Change had manifested in the chapter and purge it just to be safe?

The general impression I've gotten is that the latent psychic abilities are normally detected during the applicant's trails or scout training, and he's then under the wing of the librarius instead of the normal companies after graduating from the scout company.

So someone manifesting it later is extremely rare, and this chapter seems to have had double digits manifesting new powers. That's definitely something that would have the high lords examining them for mutation and corruption.

Actually, Heroes series 1 was released in full, it was just not all in the same place (for example, as of now you can get every single one from Barnes & Noble in the US). Same with Series 2, as they showed the Heavy Flamer marine in the reveal for the boxed game that will be sold at B&N.

Since series three is the smallest at 8 models, I think might be the FIRST one that gets a worldwide release where you can get all of them in the regular box

Indeed, Chapters believes does impact on how Psychic abilites are perceived.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

For exemples, chapters from the Blood Angels and White Scars lineages are psyker friendly, and it is a known fact in the Lore (An attitude that may be linked to the Primarch themselves, and their acceptation of Psychic abilites within their Legion). On the other hand, chapters like thoses from the Dark Angels lineage, treat psykers with caution, while chapters who have close ties with the Ministorum and adheres to the Imperial Creed, tend to see psykers as a mortal threat.

And even within a Bloodline, believes may differs greatly. Blood Angels for exemple, while open about psykers, do have successors with different opinions. Most notably, at the two extremes, you have chapters such as the Angels Sanguine whose librarius is twice the normal size of the standard Blood Angels size, itself, greater than the classic Astartes librarius, while at the opposite, you have chapters such as the Angels Penitent who purged their own librarius and who consider psykers as an heresy in itself.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Plus, not only psykers, but other specialists corps are subjects to some kind of suspicions/rejections in many chapters. Most notably the Techmarines, with chapters such as the Iron Hands who are known for their close ties with the Mechanicum, while other chapters like the Dark Angels or the Dark Hunters are extremely cautious with the Mechanicum.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Regarding the High Lords and the Inquisition, it appears in the Lore, several times, that the High Lords are extremely afraid of chapters with psychic legacy and those who develop psychic abilities beyond the standard. At best, those who display some psychic abilities are either protected due to their Lineage and their brotherhoods politic support, or are put in service of the Inquisition.....for better or worse. At worst, those chapter who display psychic taint are subjected to tests to find the origin of it and cleanse it, but it would require the chapter to declare it....and i believe it is a very exceptional case, most often, when the taint is discovered by the Inquisition, the chapter is subjected to Censure at best, Excommunication at worst. As for those chapter who display psychic abilities and suffers from physical mutations, the Inquisition sanction is absolute, with the chapter being declared Excommunicate and hunted down by the Imperium forces as a whole.

(Note that in the Lore, a chapter may be excommunicate but not trully hunted by the Imperium, they are regarded as renegades. They are on the borders, no longer part of the Imperium, but not considered a threat to it, with the Inquisition acting only if the occasion show itself or if required in the case of the renegade chapter turning traitor.)

This seems to be a chapter that's likely quite a bit low on the librarius side, and one that is small/new enough to not have much political sway. I would also guess that due to both fighting and putting down the late manifesting psykers they cant replenish their numbers fast enough. This would make sense if they are the chapter being given Primaris. I would say the chapter was likely on the verge of killing itself from this ritual. I like the story, the marines are quite a bit more human than normal. Does raise one point though, does Corial still have his Chapter Master Aura, or was he forcibly downgraded.

Wow we might be getting something new and shocking for CSM.  Sure we know he has his New Men project but this could be excited.  Primaris being the end of last edition and CSM might be getting something big near the end of this edition.

Well finger crossed that we might get some neat stuff in the last few PA books.

GW was a little coy on whether 40k would get a new faction or not this year. I remember there was talk about how GW wanted to add additional factions (similar to AoS) rather then redo all the codexes again.

Maybe instead of updated CSM kits maybe War of the Spider will be introducing a new chaos renegade faction?
