The Shenandoah Knights

Origins

The Shenandoah Knights chapter are part of the Ultima Founding and as such are a pure Primaris chapter.

Home World
Still working on this section

The Shenandoah Knights claim the Victoris system in Segmentum Pacificus as their home and maintain a chapter keeps, which bear the title of Knight's Keep, on the four inhabited planets in the system. They are Kyboro, Amazonia, Atlantica and Urangara. Prior to the Shenandoah Knights claiming the system it had a proud military history and had provided many regiments for the Imperial Guard, some of which are still in active service.

Organisation
The Shenandoah Knights maintain many of the traditions of their parent chapter, one of which is that the chapter is fleet based even though they claim a system as their own, if not a single world.

They follow the tenets set down in the Codex Astartes but break from it in a number of ways, the most obvious is in how they organise their companies.

Combat Doctrine

Due to being a fleet based chapter that seldom comes together in one place, each crusade has developed it's own idiosyncrasies but the one thing that is prevalent in all reports on the chapter is that they prefer ranged assault with a predilection towards massed bolter fire.

Recruitment
The ways that the Knights recruit on each planet varies

Beliefs
The people of the Victoris system are strong believers of the Imperial Creed and as such they venerate the Emperor as the God of Man, this belief has also meant that they have a strong and close relationship the ecclesiarchy. But as you can imagine this belief has caused them to have a somewhat strained relationship with other Astartes chapters who do not share their beliefs.

Gene-Seed
The gene-seed of the Shenandoah Knights is that of the Dark Angels and they share many of the same traits of that chapter.

Battle Cry
Still working on this part

Notable Member of the Shenandoah Knights

Grand Master Waddell - Waddell is the chapter's current Grand Master, He is the second to hold the office in the chapter's short history.

Grand Master Bulloch  - Marshall Bulloch was the Shenandoah Knight's first Grand Master and  was killed in a warp accident upon the Battle Barge Shenandoah. The chapter's flagship.

You're off to a good start. Does the Victoris System still provide tithes to the Astra Militarum? If not, I imagine the High Lords of Terra will NOT be happy. One possible justification would be the Great Rift causing Warp disruptions that isolated the system, such that nothing less than a Space Marine ship- with its higher grade Warp engines, higher quality Navigators, and Marines onboard to drive off Daemons that manage to board the ship if/when the Gellar field fluctuates- can reach the systems, so those outside the system (like the Munitorum) can't get aid to or from it (including Astra Militarum tithes).
Wolf Scout- Catachan barking toad eggs+ Thousand Sons Marine= Fun! (Wolves of Catachan)

Warhammer 40,000+ Star Wars- Rian Johnson- Reylo= AWESOME! (Knights of Renaissance)

Reasons to use the Steel Crusaders ('Codex: Space Marines' supplement) or the Iron-hearted Angels ('Codex: Blood Angels' supplement): Because you think giving Sternguard Veterans a heavy bolter wtih special issue HEAVY BOLTER ammunition is ALMOST as much fun as shoehorning an Earthshaker cannon into a Land Raider.

I'd only note that the names of the four home planets break the "fourth wall" far too easily.

And the use of a "real" place name jars significantly.

Are there perhaps more subtle or obscure ways of referencing those places?

Looks like a good start. I've only had a chance to give this a quick look, but I'll try to give it another go today and give a more detailed review.

All due respect to Brother alfred, I know many prefer to see variations on "real" names. However, the 40Kverse is more full of "real" names than "you can shake a stick at", so there's plenty of precedence.

Good luck.... looks like a lotta fun.

Nice start, and a fellow Son of the Lion!

You state in the blurb that the Chapter has close ties with the Ecclesiarchy, how close are we talking? Are members of the clergy invited along to the Chapter’s crusades in order to inspire the marines and serfs? Are there long standing alliances and honor bonds with Sororitas orders?

Following from this, as an Ultima founding Chapter, how close are their ties to the Unforgiven? Do they stand outside of it being of Cawl and Guilliman’s influence, or have they managed to join the Long Hunt? With the close ties to the Ecclesiarchy, I can well imagine some deep schisms with their fellow Dark Angel Chapters, especially if the Chapter’s high officers are privy to the secret of the Fallen! That kind of tension could potentially be really cool to see. If not part of the Unforgiven, maybe they’re cast offs similar to the Star Phantoms?

Okay....... I'm back. Sorry it took so long. Yup, you're definitely off to a good start. Just a few observations.....

You don't mention the Dark Angels specifically as your parent Chapter until half way through your article. That along with other highlights should be at least part of an overview at the beginning. Brother Utari brings forth some good questions pertaining to their relationship with the Dark Angels.

I like the name.....it's different, but it does beg the question, where is or what does Shenandoah pertain to?
