Good Morning Brothers!

So this is the list I've been tinkering with in my basement, playing solo games with my rare free time (still working an essential job). And experimenting the best I can without an opponent who is not me. If I can get the time I might even try out some Table Top Simulator with it, though finding the time for that is also scarce.

I think it'll be a strong list, with lots of fun interactions. 12 CP to play with.

In all my solo games the incusors have done decent clearing screens and tar pitting, plus DS and infiltration denial and keeping a space to puth invictors in case you opponent has some infiltration units as well.

I feel like the heavy distraction of 2 invictors really gives the transports the safety they need to get up in there. And if the transports get focused down then invictors are in their face pretty fast.

Bjorn is a beast and all the forward threats keep him pretty safe

The Ragnar bomb hits like a truck and the extra move really helps. If a close enough charge target I get them out in the 2and round for the extra AP on bolters then kill. But only if I will stick in combat or be able to hop to another.

Wolf priest accompanies the ragnar bomb via jump pack. Great set of bluffs plus no combat slouch himself

Rune priest is for -1 to hit bubble to keep transports and Bjorn out of trouble plus a bit a Psychic defense. Wolf tail talisman is a good extra pickup versus psyker heavy armies it seems.

The other intercessors are more mobile objective grabbers or not actually deployed in the impulsor and used for backfield depending on mission.

The grey hunters work similar to the secondary intercessors, however they usually stay in transport, only hopping out to help finish off a target or grab a necessary objective. Tge plasma is so the have some teeth should a harder target need finishing off.

Morkai bolt Phobos lord is a fun tech piece to fix issues. Almost guaranteed to hit. And reroll 1s to wound is quite strong, I really like this unit.

And my trusty long fang squad to outflank or not as necessary. I know feeling are mixed on them but I love this unit even if they occasionally get wiped after arrival. Its usually a trade up.

This looks like a pretty standard list and is similar to a lot of the double battalion lists that I have been toying around with. Outside of Ragnar and Bjorn, where is the killing power? I ask because I struggle with the same thoughts when building my own lists. Granted, I don't have a lot of experience with 8th do maybe it's just ignorance on my part.

Definitely a pretty standard double battalion. Really it's just an adaptation of my pre PA list which didnt use impulsors or infiltrators (except 1 invictor).

Invictors are quite a bit of the killing power. You want those things in melee. The 5 S14 thunderhammer attacks hitting on 2s do a good job on a lot of the scary threats out there. And they start close.

The characters tend to be pretty killy as well especially, the rune priest with the wolf spirit powers. Usually I do that and the targeted -1 to hit powers.

And that long fang squad, despite being a glass cannon. Usually delets something worth more points. And if they dont kill it then they suffer for ignoring it so it's a great distraction

My approach is similar to what you've built but I include a big unit of Wolf Guard in terminator armor as my "hammer" unit instead of the Invictor warsuits and more primaris marines in the form of intercessors in impulsors.  It's all theory-hammer at this point because I own many "first born" Grey Hunters and Blood Claws but few primaris.  Good luck with the list!

I suggest using auto cannons in the warsuits. Even with most of my warsuit experience has been with salamanders and flamers...the autocannons just do better.

So with ITC new missions you can safely deploy them backfield knowing you wont go first vs infiltrating and the opponent seizes and will make those suits a priority. They're not a dreadnought and not a marine so no cool strats for them. They also cant pop smoke.

But those hvy6 str7 ap-2 dmg 2 Autocannons at long range are pretty nice when you have 2 or 3 suits. Its lot harder to deal with 1st turn when they cant line up rapid fire weapons on the suits

They can also be decent escorts for smaller character dreads and Thunderwolf calvary characters. They have huge bases. They are also still quite fast at full strength to push up from deployment.

I have pretty much stopped using flamer versions and they're just shields for my chaplain dreads and aggressors.

Have you thought about taking a melee relic on your phobos Cpt? Or the mountain breaker helm?
A phobos Cpt is supremely durable and lethal if given a good HTH weapon. Combo that with a phobos Rune priest and you can warp time him. I do that with my Raptors Phobos Cpt.

I see you want to maybe snipe with him. You can get a cheaper option via the Battleleader in normal armor and can take the relic upgrade to a master crafted stalker. Which is better and will be AP-4 on turn 1. There's a lot of reroll stuff in space wolves already. Morkais teeth bolts could be good though if you plan to rush light armor vehicles or large infantry units with your incursors or reivers.

Interesting point on the auto cannons, not hard to squeeze in there either some tweaks and your right they do look a bit better with new ITC rules with no seize. Plus a bit more ranged punch never hurts. Not worried about no strats for them because there's plenty else to spend strats on.

As to the snipe lord I chose the lord because of his self reroll first and foremost. Rerolling a 2+ BS shot means the single morkai bolt shot gets in somewhere around 97% of the time. Basically making him a battle leader for anyone shooting one thing. Hes not there to snipe so much as act as a buff character versus things that need to die. Also his forward deployment helps if the invictors are up front too as he will give them rerolls early on. Pretty sure the phobos wolf lord cant take a melee weapon as he has non of the required replacements unless I missed something new.

no but master crafted combat blade is 2 dmg lol

Are you going to use the Phobos warlord traits?
