Chaos getting Imperial models

The "chaos getting Primaris" thing got me thinking...what were the last new Space Marine units that chaos also got and what units have Space Marines gotten in the last 10 years say that chaos havent gotten?

(May as well exclude chapter specific ones)

Do you mean actual new datasheets or just new models?

New datasheets would be the Greater Possessed, Master of Possession, Master of Executions, Dark Apostle, Lord Discordant and the Venomcrawler. Half a point for updated Havocs, Rubric Marines and Plague Marines. Not sure when Warptalons, Heldrake & Co came out though.

Meanwhile loyalists got the whole Primaris release which is basically a whole new army release and not even done yet. So not really comparable unless you include the rest of the Death Guard and Thousand Sons releases.

No I mean chaos and Imperium both have rhinos, land raiders, bikes, predators etc

When was the last time a new unit arrived for Space Marines that Chaos Marines also got even at a later date?

And how many generic marine units have arrived that chaos didnt get?

Well the last time both got the same kind of unit was the Dark Apostle/Chaplain I guess. Also the Exalted Champion/Lieutenant.

How many generic Marine untis loyalists got that Chaos didn't? Literally the whole Primaris range.

Thats kind of what I mean. Theres lots of people saying its inevitable Chaos get Primaris but theres loads of units they didnt get like Flyers and Centurions

To be fair, the majority thinks that it's unlikely we'll see Chaos Primaris on the table. In the fluff they might exist, no doubt about that, but GW aims to have both factions separate with their own personality so it'll probably be a "too rare to warrant models/rules" case.

They had Centurions before Marines did.

Obliterators and Mutilators. They had those long before Centurions became a thing.

And then in Shadowspear, one of the Obliterators has the legs and body of a Centurion.

It went full circle

I'd kill for a drop pod at this point. And I don't mean the overpriced over pointed flying rhino forgeworld "drop pods" but a real, honest to goodness drop pod. Hell I don't even care that much if we didn't get the T1 drop rule, since the loyalist rules have to be better.

I'd love a plastic/codex take on the dreadclaw myself.

Honestly, it'd be nice to just let Chaos loot anything that isn't in the Primaris armory-  or at least Heresy era wargear that's in the LSM arsenal.

Yeah this would be fine. I would like speeders, whirlwinds, etc. Not sure if we would get the ironclad dread? Would be nice to have good box naughts instead of going stright to FW dreads. Would love ironclads for my IW's.

TBH I think the traitor legions and renegades should have different units. Traitor Legions should get daemon engines, Obliterators and cult troops and such. Renegades should get some of the Imperial SM stuff like Whirlwind LRC and LRR, and Landspeeders, as well as traitor guard, including Leman Russes and stuff. So basically one codex for Traitor Legions and on for Renegades and Heretics. Red Corsairs would go in the Renegades and Heretics codex, Black Legion in the traitor legion book and so on. AL could belong in both books, due to the different ways they operate, sometimes as a legion sometime agitating unrest amongst guardsmen and citizenry. Wish listing of course.

Ooh, I like the premise of this question. I think it may be longer ago than many may think.

Did the plastic vindicator come out before or after the defiler?

Thanks

Its bit late for chaos to get some of the models now but heresy era is a good cut off I reckon for differenciating the lines. Most of those units are in the lore/novels

Drop pods seems a strange one for them not to have

Honestly I think the current stuff is more than enough to represent Renegades. Either use the loyalist rules for recently turned/abandoned chapters or the traitor rules for chapters that have been on the other side for a while longer already. 40k is already overcrowded with Marine content as is, I really don't want to see yet another Marine faction that's mostly copy paste of what already exists anyway. I'm willing to see an EC and WE Codex but that's honestly already stretching it.

I think the Defiler itself marked a point in time where the lines started to properly diverge. Up until that point, every release was just the Imperial version with spikes, Rhino, Land Raider, Predator, Vindicator. (That last one may be post Defiler to be fair, but was just a re-release of an existing tank.)

Since then, the releases have diverged much more, dreadnoughts became Helbrutes, more Daemon engines etc.

Here's what I could come up with:

Sternguard/Vanguard (comparable to Chosen, but Chosen never got their own box)

Stormraven

Servitors

Techmarine

Thunderfire Cannon

Drop Pod

Land Speeder Storm (along with all other Land Speeders)

Apothecary, Standard Bearer, Champion aka the Command Squad box

Ironclad Dreadnought

Venerable Dreadnought

Whirlwind and all it's variants

Stormtalon Gunship

Centurions

Land Raider Crusader and Redeemer

Chaos doesn't get what Imperials get, Imperials get versions of what chaos has.

The last actual model that was designed for Imperials that was then legitimately boxed as a chaos version was I think the Chaos Vindicator in what, 2007/2008?

That's my thinking certainly, its also a bit unusual, because it wasn't a new unit, it was just a redesign of something chaos already always had.

Which means, the last new item, which didn't exist for Chaos before (as an official kit, mind,) was the MK3 Land Raider??
