Is anyone interested in custom Kill Team dice?

As we move forward on getting custom B&C dice from Q Workshop, I began wondering if anyone would be interested in getting some custom dice to replace the markers in Kill Team.

With the 6 basic markers...

(using the tokens I made for the Legio B&C as an example)

...we could get a custom D6 with a custom design on each face.

Q Workshop has the following restriction on their custom dice page:

For legal reasons we cannot make any dice that include a graphic motive used in any game that you are neither the author, producer, nor editor of, i.e. you do not own the copyright.

Q Workshop also has some requirements with regard to the manufacturing of the dice, so painted areas can't be too large or too thin and areas between the engraving/paint can't be too thin.

Given both of those, we would need to come up with custom alternatives to the official icons, ensuring that those alternatives are clear. They might even be made more clear by having text.

We would get these in batches of 10; players that exclusively use factions with smaller kill teams need only buy a single batch while players that use factions with larger kill teams can buy two batches.

We would get these in a single color combination. We would probably have some sort of voting process on this. If this run is popular, we could repeat it again later with a different color combination.

So is anyone interested?

I like the idea and think there will be some interest but I personally already have many sets of tokens already. That said, if they end up having some sort of B&C-specific something on them or a colour combo that I like, I would definitely consider getting a set. :tu:

I mean, I like dice. The good thing is, those design are so close to generic real life icons that appropriate variations will be readily available. Now this is just a thought, but if the size of the engraving is limited, perhaps we could set it up as a 5 die, with the four outside pips as the symbol with the inside pip as the new B&C die?

I think that this is definitely in the realm of the possible.

I'd also be interested. As just a guess, how many tokens or dice do you think a person generally needs for a game?

If you only use them as tokens, you'll need one for each member of your kill team, which will vary with the cost per model. Smaller factions like the Adeptus Custodes and Grey Knights actually need only a few. Larger factions like Orks and Astra Militarum might need up to the maximum of 20.

If we add numbers to these dice to make them actual dice, you'll probably want 5 or more extras to use as dice (though that might get confusing if you roll them into any that are being used as tokens - that might be a good reason to offer these in two colors).

My poor brain can't wrap itself around what you're describing. Dovetailing off Dosjetka's suggestion, though, there are definitely ways to incorporate imagery/numbers to make these both B&C and dice.

I'll start playing around with some ideas, but if you can provide a quick sketch of what you're describing, I might be able to make it work.

I would also be interested in some - would we be looking at a wider color set or keeping it narrow right now? I think the orange & black are cool, but not to keen on the lighter blue + white. The icons look great though!

I like these, but I wouldn't buy them - I'd be more interested in dice that just did the token thing but not numbers. I already have lots of dice for rolling dice - if I was getting something like this, it's for the token element, in which case I'd want that to be the dominant graphic, not something peeking out from behind a numbered skull.

Those were just colors I chose to show an idea. We would be voting on a range of colors, narrowing it down to two (contrasting) options.

Fair enough. I'm working on some alternatives. In all cases, I agree with the icon being dominant. The trick now is getting legible options that we can choose from.

Something like these designs would be very interesting, simple but immediately clear:

(I'd probably just buy some of these, as the price for 2 sets isn't bad... but £16 postage from US and another £11 to Customs makes them kinda steep)

True.

I do like the skull design Bro T posted above, although in line with Rogue's comment I'd probably lose the numbers?

Maybe you could instead add the cross and/or 'B+C' like in Bro T's profile pic?

For colours, I guess the obvious choice (if you only did one option, which makes sense as I'm guessing numbers would be relatively limited) would be either B+C Black/Red or Kill Team Orange/Black?
