[Blackstone Fortress] Deathwatch Watch Master Solo play

Holy cow....

So, I decided to buy Blackstone Fortress and test out the rules for the Watch Master, since it promised to be a thoroughly entertaining experience, rocking a literal Space Marine through chamber after chamber cutting enemies down and blasting them apart.

The Watch Master is a bloody BEAST. As a solo actor, he is going to decimate, maneuver, and just wreck fools. And, when you consider the additional rules provided in the Annual booklet, it promises to make him even more effective.

The only negative I have is that a solo experience took 4 and a half hours to play a full expedition.

Got to say though, it was a worthwhile 4 and a half hours. And that's just expedition 1. There is a whole fortress to explore yet, and a mystery to resolve.

This long vigil has just started.

Nice, I think this (and the quarantine) has finally sold me on BSF. Especially if I can fudge the rules a bit and play it on the new zone mortalis stuff instead. I'm STILL waiting for my copy of WD though, but this is a great excuse to kitbash a dope RPG marine for this.

I've missed something. Where are these rules found? :)

So, a little update for folks:

This is quickly becoming a steam rolling fiasco.

The watch master has run through 3 strongholds and has additional gear enabling a free attack, a free attack re-roll, a free initiative shift, a free defense buff, and an attack buff, each and every turn. It feels like each time he attacks a stronghold, he collects enough clues on the way to lead him to the next one, and the one after that. I've enough to attack the final stronghold and then the hidden vault, and all of this within 5 expeditions/assaults.

I am starting to wonder what's going to stop this guy at this rate, and if I am going to need to kick it up to hard mode to keep it a challenge.

Alright, it is done.

The Blackstone Fortress has been conquered. The Watch Master has opened the Stasis Vault and revealed its secrets.

7 forays into the Blackstone Fortress, 2 expeditions, 4 stronghold assaults, and the Hidden Vault itself.

The Watch Master truly is a one man wrecking crew for this game. By the end of it, I was not facing each combat encounter with the intent of collecting every discovery I could; no, I was blitzing the closest portal to summon the next lift down, killing everything between me and the goal and nothing more.

All in all, a worthwhile investment.

The secrets of my vault I shall share to those who want to learn what they were.
