Is it worth it? I'm building up my EC so as to use the non daemonic parts in 30k and I'm thinking it could be a good a good transports in a 2k force with a stormeagle, contemptor, venomcrawler and sonic dread to hopefully saturate fire power.

I admit an issue I have is that I just think how much better it would be in my TS then my EC, but they have enough as it is.

Maybe if you own one already. Otherwise, I dunno... awful lot of investment for an admittedly cool but maybe not the most worthwhile payoff. But man, admittedly quite cool!

I'm converting my Land Raider into a "Noise Raider" to be proxied as an Achilles, albeit with a giant sonic cannon instead of the quad mortar (no rules difference but sure does look cool). Certainly worth a try!

I must admit I just can't take the chaos spartan serious after a game where my Salamanders Land raider one shotted a word bearers one at an event last year.

What are people's thoughts on Hellforged Sicaran Venators?

I bet you got a god roll to do it, that is not common that happens with just a LR shooting at it normally to get one shot.

I bet you got a god roll to do it, that is not common that happens with just a LR shooting at it normally to get one shot. 

 

It had a multimelta on it, was in devastator doctrine and a chapter master and lieutenant next to it plus the used the Salamanders bonus to wound stratagem meant I hit and wounded with every shot, the last wound two getting taken off by the heavy bolters.

I admit that is partially the issue I'm feeling, that almost anything is better off with my Thousand sons or Salamanders then my emperor's children.

Still, I assume you won that game with sallies? To get that close, you must have knocked out most of his infantry or the opponent put it in a bad spot. I am an advocate of the spartan because not only is it good value for pts in 40k, its a 30k staple you will get good use from and its a great kit for a tank.

I did, this was before the changes to doctrines so I had just stayed in devestator doctrine, he'd had first turn and moved forwards with everything including the Spartan which meant the multi melta was in range.
I just want an invun save on something that big really, hence me thinking of the Achiles before it went OAP.
