XVIII and XII legions - salamanders world eaters

Thanks alot guys! Ive been trying different ways to paint salamanders for two years, and never been satisfied. Now i am :)

 

Transfers and basing left on a flamer-squad and a melta-veteran squad. Pre-shading done on a hvy flamer squad and two dreadnoughts (they were Blood brothers in life and brothers in the after-life)

Yeah i was in a flow yesterday. I have like 1 1/2 hours every night to paint after children is asleep so i need to make the best of it, or else i would neeever complete anything :)

 

Yes Im on the lookout for flamestorm, the arms are magnetized on every dreadnought so its an easy swap, i have three contemptors, 2 more box-naughts, 1 deredo and 2 leviathans to distribute amongst the forces.

 

1 Leviathan is marked for World eaters since its a dual claw, the other one Im not sure. i have the cassius/bry’arth ashmantle dread for salamanders, but a dual melta-lance Leviathan for salamanders is pretty tempting :)

Keeping up the momentum and getting into it every night, even for a small amount time, does wonders for productivity. Dual melta lances sounds right up the Salamanders' street.

Im painting him now, and 3 last tacticals. After that i have 20 tacticals with chainaxes and 5 veterans. Need to complete 2 rhinos and After that its time for the Leviathan :)

Both sculpts are cracking, but there's only really one answer...

 

Looking forward to seeing some brutal grime and gore on the Leviathan's claws.

Salamander dread looks great! As does the Leviathan who I think looks like a sumo wrestler squaring you’re against an average sized person in your recent pic. Is that fella a print?

Thanks guys! The bry’arth dread is Very much a vip but i think he turns out good!

 

Yeah the Leviathan is a 3D print, a friend printed it for me :)

 

I belive the World eater-Leviathan would crush the poor salamander-hero

Yeah, I can just imagine that leviathan just body-slamming things to oblivion with its sheer bulk.

 

And that is a nice print. Looks reassured good and seamless.

Really liking how the grime and wear is displayed on the Salamanders. Are you thinking of picking out the Dread's head in a different colour, to help it stand out?

Ive been cheating. I happened to find my two Dark angel contemptors and 2 praetors. So i needed to paint some traitor Dark angels, terran born who sided with Horus:

Also loving the Traitor Dark Angels. They look awesome and make me want a few for myself.

Oh those Dark Angels look fantastic, the shoulder pad design adds a lot of character and the the chipped war gar is well done too.

Your painting style lends itself to a super real look given all the chipping and realistic weathering. Wish I had that talent! ( whatever legion your painting is coming out REALLY good and consistent across color palettes as well!!) that Leviathan will be epic.

The fallen angels are really fun to paint, so Thank you for your comment! I really think the 40k Dark angels should be black as well!

Thanks alot! Really Nice of you to say that! I think Im in the corner of ”realistic” modeling, partly because the 30k-setting is so Dark and gruesome and Im trying to bring that to my models, and partly because Im Very bad in painting clean models with edgehighlighting and stuff
