XVIII and XII legions - salamanders world eaters

Recommended Posts

Agreed. The white chapter symbol in white on the red pad looks ace. Just different enough for your Rievers, but fits well with the overall scar scheme. I’m a fan of top knots and banners and Directional flowing things for scars to show movement and their mongol inspired background, but not sure if the top knots on those rievers fully work or accomplish this feel. My opinion, every one has one, and not saying to redo those two already done, but maybe GS the next ones or possibly cut them down so not as high ? It might be the height off of the helmets that’s throwing me. LOVE the gritty weathered look you’ve got going; what worked on the world eaters also works on the scars!

Hi johanhgg,

I occasionally drop into to view your blog, I’m always amazed at how quickly you manage to paint stuff! I just wanted to say, it’s been great to see your skill develop over the last few months, those recent scars are great but that green on the salamanders is fantastic!

Keep it up bud.

The latest scars look really good; and the top knots on those helmets really add to the white scar feel. Apologies as it might have just been the Reiver helmets that were throwing me off, as the latest batch really look as if no conversion to their helms have been done at all and a stock model!

These are going to all look great when formed up in a squad all together. Any plans on painting a character model in this fashion?

Regarding fast painting; i have two small children and paint-time is limited so i always trial and error my way to an efficient and fast way to paint, the easier the better :) so my painting is always the easiest, fastest, most cheaty way to get the result I want Edited by Johanhgg

Tonights progress:

Im pretty happy with the reivers. Ive never liked the models and have thought of them comical, but I think Ive succeded in making them scary :)

What was the Dreadwing's role in the Great Crusade-era Legion? I can see why they retired the (admittedly awesome-sounding) name, as it's similar to Deathwing, potentially leading to confusion.

Dreadwing-protocol was initiated When the enemy’s destruction was of utter importance, with none alive. It was composed of destroyer-squads and alike, employing ancient and destructive weapons like rad, phosphex and plasmaburn-weapons. Very much against the Genève-convention :)

The Dark angels was composed of 6 wings during the Heresy; Ravenwing, deathwing, ironwing, firewing, stormwing and dreadwing; all with different combat-roles.

So, Super Devastators/Hellblasters? I'm surprised an SADM or Davy Crockett analogue isn't in their arsenal.
