Very cool video. My dislike for newcron lore aside, this has the potential to be seriously awesome and I hope it presages numerous new Necron kits, especially Warriors/Destroyers/Flayed Ones and the long-awaited demise of the green plastic rod.

 

A new interpretation of Pariahs would be icing on the cake. Either way, looking forward to the 23rd!

Goosebumps the whole time. The open return of the Silent King has the potential of unifying the Necrons or shattering them into civil war. The only thing constantly reinforced about his activities is that he considers the Tyranids the highest order of threat and has focused all his efforts, and those of most of the Triarch Praetorians presumably, on stopping their advance into the galaxy.

 

Regardless of the angle the lore takes this is a defining moment for Necrons as a faction in the setting.

i hope they do his return justice as he is (in theory? some lowly sauthek lord might not be happy about this) the leader of an entire FACTION and when i look to abbadon, well, his modell was great but somehow it went as always, he did something SPECTACULAR but no one gave a wet dime about it.

i wouldnt like it for the slient king to follow this route

Super excited now. New Szeras followed by the return of the silent king? Looks like my Necrons are coming off the shelf!

The video art is interesting. The only character that I think looks like a “Necron” is the silent king. Even the models after the transference look like they’re “flesh”. Maybe someone’s figured out how give Necrons their flesh back? Or it’s just an artistic choice?

I'm looking forward to this. Very swish how they stuck to a stylised approach, showing spaceflight as a barge sailing across the waves, etc. Good in-universe stuff.

 

More generally, one of the coolest things GW did in AoS is set up Nagash as... not really a credible threat to chaos per se but as someone/something that isn't fazed by it, that can look the chaos gods in the eye and have the temerity to challenge them. In that he's like the emperor but there's a lot of scope to do something similar with the Necrons and draw on the better aspects of the modern background. Doesn't detract from the centrality of chaos vs. imperium to 40k but adds another front and broadens it out.

 

An ancient race with sufficient chilly arrogance to scoff at the warp as something beneath them and their empire. They've broken things called gods before and now they'll set about calmly driving them out in the way that a person might drive out vermin from a long unoccupied house. All the stuff being built to in Pariah. There's promise here.

That was how I took it. They said to pay attention in "early May" for an announcement of the next reveal stream and that would almost certainly take place on Saturday again (which the 23rd is).

 

After the announcement of GW's webstores reopening in the US, Australia, and everywhere else, I was actually expecting them to announce the next reveal stream this last Friday.

this MUST be the Silent king. If GW shows this video and then there is no silent king a lot of people would be very disappointed.
