Using this to abolish green rods would be spectacular. I wonder if this will be tied into Pariah or if Pariah will set the stage for this release? But not because i am not interested into him but because of he must have new ideas and weapons after his exile. I mean his exile was a very long period. A few million years i think. I would imagine that they will be renewed but not just them. I think there will be more if the Silent king returns ( more new and stronger then old ill/sick lower citicens of their culture). The obvious echo is Guilliman returning to an Imperium where not everyone is so willing to fall in line but most blindly follow. Is he going to try and rule over everything again or just lead to the rise of Necrons and he’s still on the side lines. There’s also the chance he re enslaves all the Necrons back to his will. The Necrons shown in the second half are definitely different that what we’ve seen before. Looks like they’re carrying hyperphase swords but not shields. And they’re looking a lot more “muscle bound” then skeletal. It’s definitely exciting knowing I’ve got an army getting some new stuff coming! I guess a new Hobby Thread will be needed. . . . Maybe I should finally finish up the handful of unpainted crons I have on the shelf so I could actually start a new army addition with a fully painted original force. . . lol. . .who am I kidding. This is the leader of the entire faction after all, no other faction has had this. His presence on the board has to be immense. More prevalent than a Primarch, Imperial or Chaos. GW has to get this right.The return of the Silent King has to mean a civil war. I remember reading that Imotekh is no fan of the Silent King, titling him as a coward and not worthy of ruling over the Necron race. DOGGED Posted May 11, 2020 Share Posted May 11, 2020 That's great news for sure! Regarding the video, it seems a new (old) troop type (that's pariahs) will come alongside Szarekh. I don't think we can elaborate on their loadout because all we can see in the video is that they carry swords which happen to be the only weapon in the video. The first figures we see besides the Silent King are carrying a sword (the one on the left) and a staff (the one on the right). The figure who's rowing the Silent King's boat carries an almost identical (if not the same) staff so we could think of him/her as a king's servant or council member. Also they have different looking pictograms over their heads so they must be a different "class" (in regards to profession). The warrior, who is the same height as councilor and the people kneeling before the king, wears no shield, so in addition to that said before we could assume the sword is just an artistic representation of a warrior class. NTaW Posted May 11, 2020 Author Share Posted May 11, 2020 In the Codex it states that Szarekh "destroyed the command protocols by which he had controlled his people, for he knew he had failed them utterly" so him rolling back in and clicking the 'on' switch there seems a bit out of character, but who knows. That could be the only way forward for the Necrontyr. I don't think that the glyphs in the video represent new units per se, but rather the transformation of the Necrontyr from weak and disease-addled to strong and immortal. I'll add to that I think the size of the SK in the glyphs is exaggerated to show his importance. If/when it comes to a model there I wouldn't be surprised to see more of a Katakros (AoS)-style model with him and aides/auxiliaryCrons on a big fancy base instead of a lone big model. If he wants to, he can just turn it back on, and they're his to command. There's a possible storyline - the Silent King has to be within a certain range to re-enable the command protocols. Once he does, no one can deactivate them at scale, and his command range is much greater. The conflict comes from other Overlords, who can resist the reset to a degree. The grand pubah that was there since the beginning, the most regal and therefore the best upgraded lord since the bio change. He is the architect of fate for his entire race and has millions of years of being awake and wondering the universe. Abby is not quite on the same level. And debatable about being the main chaos bad boy since the daemon primarchs have come back and have very much separate agendas. As for Vect, he simply has not been around as long and rules over a smaller race that seems content with their lot in life. With the exception of squashing the Ynarri up rise that threatens his rule. Are they all similar as far as main rulers? sure. But when compared to one another, it can be different. What remains to be seen is if the silent king can successfully unite all of the necron race under his rule or will he butt heads with the likes of any such as Imotekh. If he can manage to unite them all, I would certainly classify this guy as a level above a lot of the main heroes for each race. Simply because numerically, he would be the most dominate. Then we have Abaddon For another example, Guilliman can reasonably be called "Leader of the entire Imperium faction" at the moment. If the king is truly returning, then this must be so. And even more curious, what will the paint scheme be. Seeing as the Sautekh dynasy was the leading primary necron paint scheme since the start.
