What's your favourite Superheavy, and why?

Recommended Posts

Perturabo's personal pimp-ride - the Tormentor. It's a Shadowsword with a void shield, space for 15 Marines, doesn't take up a LoW slot and gains Tank & Monster Hunter everytime it fires all its weapons at a single target. Load that sucker up with terminators and Perty and start hunting everything from infantry blobs to smaller titans.

Perturabo was right - Victory can only be truly achieved through the application of supreme firepower.

Stormbird.

It's literally a flying fortress of doom delivering masses of Space Marines to a combat zone that will wreck face. Helps that its heavily armed.

I loved the fluff in Inferno where they built a landing zone out of Stormbirds, interlocking their void shields.

Yeah I was never a fan of the thunderhawk, I always thought there should be a bigger transport. When I saw the stormbird, I knew it was exactly what I wanted. Dreams may come true, wishes on the other hand....

I am split between the Glaiv, because giant CHOOOM, and the Mastodon, because the idea of building a big bunker, mounting lots of weapons on it, filling it to the brim with astartes and dreadnoughts and then driving it right in the enemey fotification is absolutely insane and very fitting for Warhammer.

This is literally me, but with an addition of the Falchion, because what's better than one Titan-killing weapon? Two of them, that's what

Stormsword all the way.

Mine wreaks havoc in every game and is feared for a reason. As an Iron Warriors player I think it suckes that The Tormentor is such a :cussty tank.

Hey Gorgoff,

I remember a post of yours from waaay back in the "Tactica Termitica" (I wasn't kidding when I said that I had been lurking for years before joining). How do you deal with Terrax death squads (melta vets, for instance)? In my last last two games, I killed a Glaive with complete impunity; it took me a turn in one game, and two in the other. The squad was gone by then, but they had done their duty! I'm just concerned the same thing will happen to my Warhound once it hits the tabletop.

Heavy Support Squad with Volkite Culverine and Augury Scanner.

They can intercept which means they get to shoot after the Termite arrives. And few infantry squads survive their fire.

Mortis boxnoughts + Contemptors may intercept too.

Third option which comes to mind is the good old screen of bodies which surrounds your precious. Remember that a Termite cannot be placed willingly into enemy units. Allied levy Imperialis Militia units only cost 100 points per 50 men. That should be a big enough bubble to stop those deep striking baddies.

From an aesthetics point of view, I always loved the look of the classic epic stormhammer, but it changed too much when they re-imagined it in 28mm. I think the knight lancer look cool as hell though. For marine super heavies the Falchion is a fantastic looking model imo.

As for tabletop performance, I do love my Stormsword :smile.:

Stormlord, all the way.

The Glaive is very useful and Chooom is always neat but oh the stormlord, transport 40, 20 whom can shoot out, assault vehicle, vulcan mega bolter that can fire twice..
It truly gives you a fortress to deliver an infantrywave, tactical blobs with apothecaries, full terminator squads, Tactical support squads or melee specialists. or a mix.

I like 37 tacticals with 2 apothecaries and a consul of some sort, gives the army a solid anchor (though regular tacticals are in a dire need of a boost or point reduction in the face of Veterans and.. all the other stuff) in the mid-field, especially once in place the stormlord will fire twice in support of the infantry.

Glaive, because the rules are so far out there,  and it forces both players to more heavily consider movement and unit placement.

I'm looking forward to playing with my Gorgon once this pandemic cools off. Might make myself a second one,  as well as a banenlade-variant (plasma or shadowsword) for a 3 superheavy Militia list.

I prefer the look of the fellblade over the others for the cleaner lines and the 'you know what you're getting' smooth barrels. Nothing fancy, simple and effective and looks great in DG colours. No idea on the rules and in game performance.

So is the consensus now that legion stormlords are acceptable?

I saw a post from 5 yrs ago that the legions can't take it, granted rules have changed (I don't really keep up with changes very well:

Yeah man, a lot has changed in 5 years :smile.: It's explicitly allowed now
