We don't even know if a unit of 3 two-handed weapons is possible. Perhaps it's just a "sergeant" option.

Just a warning to anyone looking to buy or trade Skorpekh Destroyers for a unit all armed the same.

Some AoS units came with a different weapon for each guy in the box, just like the Skorpekh. GW, in the most recent Battletome for the relevant army(ies) took away the option to change the unit's equipment, so the unit entry now matched the box, one of each weapon, no option to equip multiple of the same weapon. Obviously, that really sucked for anyone who had traded or bought extra of the same weapon for uniformity, aesthetics or any other reason.

There is a possibility they will do the same here. Skorpekh Destroyers, when we see their full rules, might not have the option to have three of the same weapon but instead be forced to always have one of each (or two of each if you take a bigger unit, etc). The unit entries supplied with the starter box probably won't give a good indication of whether this will happen or not, as with previous editions they only list the weapon options the models come with, not all possible options.

IMO wait until there's confirmation that you can take a unit all identically armed before putting time and resources into doing so. Wait until we either have the Codex, confirmation in the starter box datasheets (unlikely, but not impossible) or see the contents of a multi-part kit.

wait for the stand alone kit then. It'll reveal GW's intentions for the unit, if the box comes with the options, you're all set on both counts msn-wink.gif

Wise advice but remember that in 40K, units are made of individuals miniatures. In AoS, units are made of packs of miniatures wich are fixed in size (ex: a unit is 5 minis or 5/10/15 etc.., or unit of 3 or 3/6 ....). In 40K (matched play) you can add in most units some miniatures, one by one.

But let's stick with the wise advice. Wait and see then decide.

Sometimes, it is more interesting (financially) to buy 3 starters than go with the individual kits. I did it previously and it was amazing to build an army (or a nice rooster) for super cheap. But this is just me.

Confirming this, you still see it with Stormfiends and the like. I hope it would never happen in 40k, but you never know.

It can happen, as has been seen before in AoS, but there’s also evidence of the opposite - just look at chaos terminators, whose box can’t even build the unit featured in its datasheet since the datasheet has everyone equipped with chain axes but the box contains one of each weapon...

So it can go either way

Curious to see what a new Warrior dataseet looks like with these new weapons on them. Hopefully they can be built as units wholly with a single weapon type!

While I generally prefer to be free to choose my own loadout, a mixed unit like in the picture above looks great on the tabletop, and can (hopefully) be effective in its own way - the thing I’m a bit wary against is that it is more time-consuming to attack with such a unit, where every model has different weapon profiles (and sometimes associated special rules)

Bringing this back to necrons...

Any possibility that the smaller lord like model is Anrakyr?... Equipment wise looks to fit - warscythe and right arm could have a tachyon arrow on.

He'd also fit as he's "neutral" compared with the other named characters (apart from szeras)

Also although not starters we've had ghazghkull, Ragnar and eldrad first available in battle boxes before later separate releases.

Hopefully we'll find out soon.

There also looks to be a 'high ranking' immortal marching next to the warriors. Possible they're using the fluff to bring us a lieutenant-esque characters to buff warriors as that seems to fit fluff wise?

Non chaos thoughts ;)

I did not. Care to link a clip, or a time stamp? This is very intriguing if true.

One of the things I always, not disliked per se, but was more disappointed by, was that they are described as sacrificing all aspects of themselves for the sole purpose of the extermination of all life... and then all we get are hover platforms with long range guns. The Skorpekh are a breath of fresh air in this regard, and I hope that we get more things in the same vein.

Probably the Destroyer in the bottom left of the photo. Looks like a Heavy Destroyer, but it could be something new. Or perhaps a new name for Heavy Destroyers, the same way Tomb Spiders became Canoptek Spiders.

The name dropped in the Necron subforum was that the grav Destroyers are from the Locus Destroyer Cult.

I'm such a technophobe. Sorry couldn't locate the video now. I'm not a member of Twitch etc so maybe it's in an archive somewhere.

Cheers anyway, Idaho. I’ll take you at your word, and guess that there will be more variants in the inevitable second wave to follow the boxed release.

I wish they'd gone with a wholly more "alien" look for them if they were going to start emphasizing non anthropomorphic traits like spider legs and such.   I love the monocular heads from the Deathmark kit.  They'd be fantastic as the default head.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

Take this with Salt as I'm relinking an image from a FB post of possible necron rules.  They don't seem to be crazy and seem plausible but they could easily be false at this point.  Also I know someone is going to be mad that I'm sharing this just because and for that person I have a hug for you.  It is nice to enjoy our hobby during these crazy times even if they are just rumors.

PS: Sorry mods if I'm not to do these ... just delete it if that is that case. :)

Huge pile of salt.

I'll take two Immortal Overseers if that's actually their ability. Anything that mitigates morale losses on Warrior blobs is great for my collection.

OH ya, lots of salt smile.png but it is fun to speculate and see the rumors start to show up.  It will not be long before someone posts the bad leaked photos of the start box rules or GW previews some this coming weekend.

Certainly looks feasible. Only thing I'd say is the previewed blade on WarCom didn't say anything about -1 to hit.

I'm beyond excited.

The immortal also fits as had been suggested. Is it Saturday yet?!

Someone else brought that up and it is a good point.  The only counter point to that is GW does not always show everything in the previews and as it was transcribed we commonly see rules close but we do get cases of human error coming into play on misremembering what they saw.
