my new method of transferring paint to dropper bottles.

So I got some new paints and wanted to move them to my new dropper bottles from USPlastic (awesome bottles by the way). So I was shopping around and saw a Farberware Flavor Injector. Now some of you are thinking I'm an idiot, and that is true, but let me take you down the path of my insanity to a great discovery. 

 

First the flavor injector hub fits perfectly into the dropper bottle neck.

Then the GW paint bottles fit perfectly onto the barrel, not you need to remove the flip top.

It all stacks nice and neat, its not perfectly airtight though. This was sitting there for about 20 mins and you can see how only a drop or two fell out of the syringe.If you are observant you can actually see how much paint you collect. A GW paint bottle is roughly 12ml or .4oz. You then simply push the plunger and it all comes out. NOTE! pull the syringe away from the dropper bottle, it is not perfectly air tight but close. If you don't pull back it will splatter everywhere due to pressure build up.

Mark the cap with a drop of paint.

Finally move the label.

 

So this process is much simpler and much more hands-off. It allows you to assemble it all together and then just wait 20-30 mins and done. If you really want to get everything you can add some water or flow improver to get more paint out. However I see that I get almost all the paint out with ease without it.

 

Then to clean up, wipe off the plunger rubber end, put water in the barrel and squirt it out a few times. Sometimes the hub needs cleaning, simply cut a q-tip in half and stick it inside to clean it.

Q: But Caldersson the pluge will then create a vortex and the solvent with increase the pigment causing a solution failure.

A: uhhh plunger makes paint to sploosh.

It looks good , I'm just wondering why you wouldn't just suck the paint into the syringe right away instead of waiting for so long. Too messy? Or would it change the paints' properties?

Nah but I did it so that I could just let it sit while I do other things. I hate moving paint.

I've been considering moving to dropper bottles for a while, never once thought of a syringe! Biggest reason I haven't (aside from bad reviews on the bottles themselves) is the amount of mess I would end up making, but this looks like it would work rather well - thanks for giving me something to think about!

I went through several brands of bottle from Amazon and a company that said they had "reaper clones". All were subpar, I highly recommend US Plastic, a bit more expensive and no free shipping, but by far the best I have found.
