Greetings humans, heretics, xeno and mutants.

First time poster long time since I've touched the hobby with a 40,000ft pole.

I used to post on the WargamerAU forums under "Ralshar" about 15years ago and recently got back into converting because :cuss it what else have I got going on right meow?

After 15 years out of the game I decided to challenge myself to see if I still had it by converting a standard marine into a true scale wolf lord using only the dated pieces I had in my old as sin bitz box.

And this here is the end result!

If you're on the bookface page "40k kitbash carnage" then first of all, I'm sorry. Second, this may look familiar as I posted about it rather frequently as I built.

I'll be posting the quasi step by step pics with some explination after this if anyones interested.

Like I said, 15 years in between conversions and sculpting so be gentle. But critical.

Aside from swapping both shoulder pads for plain plastic and discarding the R arm this is all the actual GW parts used.

20200510 203802~2

First step was to bifurcate the torso to add some upper body length.

20200510 203850~2

I didn't chose these legs. Honest to gods they were the ONLY spare set of legs I had in my bitz box.

20200510 215136~2

I ground the feet off, shaved off some of the detal on the calves to allow for a more upright posture that would lengthen the legs natrually and then tried to sculpt some GS ones with 15yr old stale GS. Greenstuff can go off. I didn't know that but my fingers weren't the same for a few days.
I also lengthened the L upper arm with the remaining hard-stuff (ancient greenstuff)

Bought some milliput as I waited for GS to arrive. Great for bulking up, horrible to sculpt.
Made thighs, abdomen and whittled some feet out of a block that I left too long to cure.
Said feet were discarded later. I wish I could get that time back.

I had some GS generously donated by a mate and was finally back in my element. I know this goes against the rules I set myself regarding only using my old parts but I figure it's allowed because my rules?
I filled details in the calves to create longer legs, sculpted most of the arm (that's an old school metal fist) and the abdomen armour plating.

Wow! That’s quite the challenge. Overall I applaud you. I have a ton of old metal termie legs, but would not have the guts or patience to use them for a true scale conversion. Resculpting feet is not my jam. I agree that the one fist seems a bit large, but only other nit pick is his mouth. Seems too big for the rest of his face or in a strange shape. Almost old school joker from the Batman tv show. Maybe a Simple fix and make his mustache and beard Big and fuller!?

I looked closer at the pic in your gallery and with more detail the mouth is fine but the way his mustache sits on his top lip seems to be it. Maybe just more whiskers facing downwards instead of a ‘shelf’ as it is?

Overall though great model from literally nothing!!!

Good stuff. One critique is that the left arm seems a bit long and the hand too large, but other than that it's a great model. :happy.:

Thanks! I can't really say for certain if there's a difference in hand size but arms should be uniform. I suspect it MAY be angles but it's an old metal hand so likely is huge.

Thank you! It was a hoot I tells you what.

I agree with the mouth and I may revisit it before it gets a lick of paint. I like the idea of a larger and more venerable face fungus.

Sorry it's taken DAYS to update something that's already finished!

Onward we go.

Elbow pads and go and get stuffed. Honestly one of the biggest challenges I faced in my rusty state was sculpting a simple elbow pad before I realised that I can just let it set and shave it down to shape afterwards.

I am impatient.

Both thighs done. Here is one.

I'm kinda happy with these even if the armour indents aren't uniform. I SHOULD have sanded them flat afterwards but again, impatient.

Look ma I made a butt! I'm just going to stop pointing out the parts where I should have let them set then shaved them down to more solid angles.

So this is the bifurcated torso chocked up with milliput and then covered with GS. I couldn't think of what to do for the abdomen and it ended up being layed strips of armour by total fluke. Here's hoping it looks ok painted.

HIPSTER BEARD. This will likely be re-visited to make it bigger and more imposing but the beard was the result of slicing an old SW top-knot head guy right through the middle of the teeth back to the jaw to make him roar then deciding that I gotta beard that sucker up because it looks like a South Park Canadian if left alone.

Feet ended up being 1mm plasticard soles, GS for the toe plate and the extra armour was a mix of GS and milliput for experimental purposes. An experiment I will not be replicating again soon.

I was at a loss for shoulder pads so I ended up using an old Wolf Guard Crux cast I did aeons ago. Still held up well.

It's glued in place with the milliput / GS mix.

If you're wondering why I didn't like the mix of the two that statement should be a decent indicator.
