Bladeguard Veteran advice

Hail brethren.

After viewing the new bladeguard veterans I really don't want to wait for the new set to come out.

I picked up some shields from pop goes the monkey recently and been trying to find a way to use them. They're pretty big, wulfen sized, and between them and the power swords I have leftover I wanted to make a set of wolfy Bladeguard veterans out of some spare intercessors.

My biggest problem is the tabards. I don't have any real experience with green stuff to make my own and can't seem to find any bit sites with what I would need.

These are the shields I picked up:

Anyone have an idea of what I could use, or should I just bite the bullet, grab some greenstuff and bluestuff and get to work making wolf fur tabards? Honestly some more epic swords would be cool too.

Thanks in advance

Well i recently found out and now ordered a fur texture plate from Greenstuff world. They also have ones that will make a head

Texture plate

Those huge round shields you ordered are nice. They look big on terminators.

I did a few guys myself. I didn't want to wait for any when they previewed the new units so I went with the Palanite Subjugators Storm Shields

For the tabards/pelts..there are bits out there but if you have some patience and novice skill with greenstuff you can make them. Sometimes I just nick out a bunch of slashes and fold the top side of the pelt over the cord it hangs on.

Another and more effective technique is-

Find something round like a wooden dowel or pen/brush that will represent the Tabard/pelt attachment areas ie his waste or shoulder.

Then make a batch of green stuff and flatten it on the round surface. I can't give a specific time to wait but when its soft to cut and fold but won't stretch is when you want to start folding and cutting them to fit on the marine. When it fits good start attaching those to the marines

For fur roll up a small noodle about 1/8 thick that will be enough for each man's pelt. Flatten the noodle. Wait until it won't stretch from cutting. Now make a new, same sized noodle.

Start cutting/shaping the first noddle in 1 direction to where it represents fur clumps. Now keep repeating that process until you dont need anymore fur. Cut the first shaped noddle to fit to the pelt base. Attach first pieces to bottom of pelt. Attach the next newest ones above the 1st row and have slme over hand. Keep doing that until it's all covered

I would say start doing them when you can switch to some painting/building while you wait on hardening times.

So I originally wanted something tabard like to distinguish them properly from the basic intercessors I was going to use other than just "Sword and shield Intercessor" I ended up buying way too much stuff from Greenstuffworld: the fur mold Debauchery linked, green stuff, blue stuff(going to try to make a head out of a fenrisian wolf) and a pretty cool celtic rolling pin(vehicle panels maybe) and am going to try to make some cloaks and waist pelts.

Not too confident but I hope they come out ok. Just have to wait on supplies now. In the US so it may be a while before I can post my "results".
